To all the critics after 2 shows,
Season 3 isn't as good as the others huh?

That's all I can say right now. Time to rewatch the show.

Those bastards... those fucking bastards... If this was any other show, I'd bet Tony survives. If this was any other show.

DON'T DIE, TONY!

It's time for Jack to start up the killin', though. The scene for next week with Bucho seemed intriguing.

Not Tony, Dammit! Why couldn't Jack have sent Kim?

Seriously though, why on earth would they send one guy, all alone, who happens to be the head of CTU? It's the whole "Captain Kirk beaming down to the planet" theory. Bah.

I don't know... maybe because I didn't watch the prior seasons I'm not as attached to Tony, so his shooting at the end wasn't as surprising as when the guy walked past Singer a moment before. Or maybe I don't think Tony's hurt all that seriously. It didn't look like a direct head shot (although it was pretty bloody for a grazing). I'm thinking he loses an ear (and at least his subsequent hearing), but he's okay. Even if he was hit in the jugular, there should be enough emergency personel around that they can take care of Tony immediately. The fact that he wasn't dead when he hit the ground suggests to me that he'll at least make it to the hospital.

It will be interesting to see how Tony's injury (and possible death) affect the rest of CTU. If Michelle finds out that the only reason Tony was there was because Jack had issues with Chase, I'm sure that wouldn't sit too well with her. Likewise, this will further justify to Jack his treatment of Chase. This might signal to Kim that Jack is right, but, well, I've read about Kim's prior exploits, so I won't expect anything. I'd guess Chase will feel like that should have been his bullet, and this will drive him further from Kim and Jack. Is it possible for him to become a rogue CTU agent?

I like all the dynamics presented between parents and children. Last week we had Maria and her father having issues relating to Hector. This week we have the Singer family arguing over who pays the rent and a prison guard who kills an agent to save his son. One might think Jack might see how familial rifts at the time of a crisis, as demonstrated by the Singers, can only exacerbate the situation, but I don't think he did. Regarding the prison guard, I wonder if that isn't foreshadowing that later this season, something will happen to Kim, and Jack will be blackmailed into doing something for the terrorists. Or maybe I'm trying to read in too much.

Still, didn't the prison guard have any options other than to follow Salazar's orders? One would think if he went to the cops, they could have at least faked the agent's death to trick Salazar into releasing the kid. Then again, given how well connected these Salazar's seem to be (with a mole inside CTU and all), I don't know if I'd trust the cops in that instance myself.

So we wait a week to find out that Anne is a purjorer, and its all because her ex-husband wants to extort money from the president. And he caves??? Something seems wrong about all this. D.B. Woodside is playing the same kind of sneaky character he played early last season on Buffy, where you can't tell where his true intent lies, but you know *something* isn't on the up and up with him. There had better be more to the story, because right now Palmer is looking like a wuss. I don't see how allegations that the President's girlfriend may have perjured several years ago (when there's testimony to the contrary), are relevant to a current national campaign. Maybe I could see the opposing party making a fuss over it, but I think the mainstream voters who decide an election wouldn't care too much about the issue. I don't know... I probably shouldn't apply my own theories about real politics to a tv show.

That was a nice swerve with making the powder a red (white?) herring. Also, if CTU knows that Singer will be infected regardless, what motivation do they have to release Salazar? (Could this be where my blackmail Jack theory comes in? Have the CTU mole take the center hostage and demand Salazar's release by holding Kim, if not the whole center, at gunpoint?)

Overall, it was a good episode, but its still not as good as I heard. But at least it seems like things are picking up.

I doubt that's likely since in Season 1 Kim was kidnapped in order to force Jack into making an assasination attempt on Palmer's life. Still, given the "on the fly" writing of the show in later episodes, and factor in Kim's overall stupidity, and anyhing is possible I guess.

Good stuff last night. I admit that I didn't see the cocaine/Kyle twist coming. Then again, Jack figured it out pretty quickly. Almost too quickly.

Interesting that they made a point to let us know that Michelle was "running things" when Tony left. Maybe she'll get that promotion, after all.

Damn I have enjoyed this show since Season 1 and it keeps on going as one of the only must see shows these days.

Chilling moment of the hour: Ramon telling the security guard that he'll allow his son to live.

My rookie friends have been offcially hooked.

Oh yeah, 24 is back with that one. I thought they said that Tony was shot in the neck, but that one just stunned me too much to really pay attention.

The thing to do with your rookie friends right now is to sit them down with the first two DVDs

My computer was down for most of the last week, so here is a body count update.

Hour 2:

I think the only one was the guy with the leather jacket.

Hour 3:

If you are wearing a suit, don't talk to Salazar. Although for a second, I thought that Ramon was going to do something nasty with the tray to the guard.

Yeah, my brother and sister-in-law are almost through season 2 now, and are absolutely hooked. Unfortunately, they couldn't finish it before the beginning of season 3, so they're just going to wait for the next DVD set. D'oh!

Anyway, I wasn't that surprised about white powder not being the virus, but I was shocked as hell about Tony (maybe) getting iced. And yeah, Jack did say that he got shot in the neck.

So what's the total bodycount at this point? Somewhere around 15, is that right?

I'm surprised they gave him plastic silverware. I know its not strong, but I wouldn't trust him with anything small and sharp after what he did to the lawyer with a pen.

Is Kyle Singer the real virus host? What about President Palmer? What happened to him at the end of season 2 got wrapped up way too easily and brushed aside easily as well. It was also mentioned the assassin that gave him the virus was a "he," and we all know that it was really Mandy.

It took me a week to place him, but I finally realized that the mole at CTU this year is that guy from Fame. No, not Leroy. The other guy. From Fame. The show. You remember, don't lie to me. The pieces are all falling into place.

Since I made the early prediction last year that turned out to be true about how the Evil Secret Germans were behind the whole thing, some early predictions for this year. Either Palmer or his brother said this week, regarding Ann, "She's not Sherry!" Oh yeah? Nice try on the swerve there, people behind 24. I say Ann really is Sherry, in disguise. Maybe one of those giant helmet/mask things from Total Recall. Also, I think Tony will meet The Ghost of George Mason on the astral plane.

So, next week we get the Chase vs. Salazar cage match. With a run-in by 24. 24 probably calls him off, but maybe this is where they bond, and instead of pulling Chase off, 24 will say something like "No, you have to yank the scrotum down and away first, son." And Chase will say "Did you just call me son, Jack?"

Hahahah.. Man, I've missed your 24 comments, Dr Unlikely.

And we can only hope for an appearance by the Ghost of George Mason.

And I hereby rename Kyle Singer "DellComputerKid".

I managed to get several people at work hooked on this show, most are still going through Season 2, but one of them finished before Season 3. She called me up, almost hysterical, when Tony was shot. Quality television

Question for you all: Do any of you have the first three episodes of this season on tape? I'm this close to getting my boss to watch, and she wants to be able to pick up Season 3 once she finishes the other 2 seasons. If anyone can help, please send me a private message.

Thanks!
