Good to see they're putting so much time into the extras...I'd love to see a Larry David commentary track on his seasons...

Seinfeld in late 2004?

Craig Crumpton sent us an email qith a quote from the November 14 issue of Entertainment Weekly:
"Exec producer Howard West claims that DVDs *are* in the works and should roll out by late next year. 'It takes time,' he explains about adding extras -- unseen footage, behind-the-scenes interviews -- to episodes filmed as long ago as 1990. 'We have to go backward to go forward.' But Columbia-TriStar, who will distribute, says it has no timetable for the release."

A "Seinfeld" DVD would be soooo awesome! That DVD, Brian Posehn's comedy CD, and "Meet The Fockers" - so much to look forward to! Woo hoo!!

Hey, chuckc! Nashville, eh? My parents live there! :)

I just hope the Seinfeld DVDs come rolling out faster than the Simpsons ones I have. One season a year? At this rate I'll be 40 before they're all out, and that's just downright depressing.

Hopefully, they'll start churning them out a little quicker once the series ends. They def. don't want to eventually "catch up" with the present season. I'm looking for season 4 hopefully mid 2004. I have Cheers season 2 coming out Jan 6 to keep me company until then.

Still waiting on Night Court on DVD...

I'm not exactly frothing at the mouth for the Seinfeld DVD yet. I can watch it about 4 times a day in syndication...

I agree. The only series I would get on DVD are either British shows (i.e. Coupling, The Office), shows that aren't in reruns anymore (i.e. Soap) or dramas, which rarely make basic cable syndication anyway (i.e. 24).

Yeah ... but seems like I heard something where the Seinfeld DVDs may not be released as seasons, but rather as 'best-of' DVDs.

Has anyone else heard that?

That makes no sense. Since there is a market for people wanting EVERY episode on DVD, why bother with just 'Best-of' discs? Also, releasing 'best of' DVDs will ruin the casual fan market for the rest of them, since they'll figure "these eps aren't the best anyway, so I can skip them."

And other than the unquestioned masterpieces (i.e. The Contest, The Outing), who's to decide what Seinfeld episodes are the 'best,' anyway? My friends and I always debate which was the greatest Seinfeld episode ever, and our choices are wildly divergent.

I totally agree with you about the best-of crap ... I can't pick a favorite, so who's to tell me what the best Seinfelds are, ya know? ... there are toooooooo many ... the one where the reporter thinks Jerry & George are a gay couple, the Kenny Rogers' Roasters episode, the contest, the shrinkage/ugly baby episode ... I could go on and on.
