With the logjam at 5-4, the AFC North actually does have a prayer of grabbing one of the wildcard slots, if the Bengals keep winning. | BOSsportsfan34

With Miami and Buffalo reeling, it's very possible the Bengals could grab the last wild-card spot. Denver is getting Plummer back so my feeling is that they will hold on to that 6th playoff spot in the AFC.
I would also keep an eye on the Jets. They could very well make a 2nd half run like they did last year. | redsoxnation

| #4 Posted on 11.11.03 1538.51 Reposted on: 11.11.10 1539.58 | I'm trying to figure out how Washington is ahead of the Giants, since the Giants beat them head to head. Right now, if your KC, you have to hope that Tennessee wins the AFC South, putting New England and Tennessee in the 2 and 3 holes. That means KC only has to worry about 1 of those 2 teams in the playoffs, rather than a worse case scenario of Tennessee at #5 beating Cinci or Baltimore at #4, with the Colts at 3 beating whoever #6 is. The Colts won't beat New England in January on the road, and Tennessee is one of the few teams that could go in and knock off KC. 16-0 and knocked in the first playoff game is a distinct possibility under those circumstances. | Zeruel

eh, just call it a typo. you are right, he should flip-flop their rankings, because if the season ended today, washington would be under NY for that tiebreaker. | JayJayDean

Seeing as I started with week two, I'd say going nine weeks before my first error is pretty good. Since the 4-5 teams tiebreaker goes to strength of victory, the revised standings go thusly:
7. N. Y. Giants (4-5) 8. Green Bay (4-5) 9. San Francisco (4-5) 10. New Orleans (4-5) 11. Tampa Bay (4-5) 12. Washington (4-5) | drjayphd

A-HA! You SEE that? Giants are the next team in the playoffs! All they've gotta do is... wait... who's at #6?

There's really a possibility that the team that will finish first in the AFC North will have a 500 record and get a home playoff game... Who says BCS is the only screwy football system in town.
Seriously the eight division with only four teams in each is kinda screwy. You are going to get some bad teams in unworthy positions. | Mayhem

They've put up 30 or more points in 6 straight games (one of which was a loss to a very good New England team) plus they have the league's #1 defense against the rush. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
