Vols upset Miami, 10-6

Guess that'll put an end to what was left of Miami's massive winning streaks. From VA Tech last week to this week - will they bounce back?

And on the other side of the coin - what a win. It wasn't the prettiest thing in the world, but we'll take Miami's massive amounts of personal fouls and turnovers any day of the week. It's nice to see what happens when the defense can actually make tackles.

Of course, all of this may not matter anyway, since Georgia has to get hammered in the BCS standings (or just lose) for us to get to the SEC championship game now, anyway. Not that it's going to diminish this victory.

Ugh, what happened to my Canes? We played STUPID today. Way too many dumb penalties (roughing the kicker on 4th & 14, anyone?) and bad plays.

What's wrong with Brock Berlin? The kid has talent, but he makes too many terrible decisions (you're 10 yards from the end zone and you throw up a duck to 5 Tennessee defenders while Winslow is wide open for a TD). With a 9/14 TD/INT ratio and 17 turnovers this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench next week.

Booo. I was torn for this match. i hate Miami, but on the other hand I needed Tennessee to lose for Florida to have any shot at the SEC Championship. Although I'm not sure we could jump Georgia either. I don't think the Vols making it are that much out of the question. They still have Auburn going there next week. And the away team almost always comes away with the victory. It's gotta be over for my Gators though. We actually NEED Georgia to win against Auburn to keep a three team tie (a two way tie between Florida and Tennessee would go to Tennesssee). And then we have to hope that a victory of FSU is good enough to move up ahead of Georgia and Tennessee. Oh well i'm kind of hoping LSU will get into the Championship game to represent the SEC so that would mean we'd have to lose to them in the SEC championship game.

By the way, Michigan and Ohio State play each other, and USC has a tough game against Oregon St as their finale. LSU has Alabama and Ol Miss on the road and Arkansas at home.

TCU has a realistic shot of being third in the BCS standings at the end of the year. Plus, if it wins out, the computer push and no losses have them no worse than fifth.

After FSU's loss (and Va. Tech's - this is the year of parity), a Florida win against a team already eliminated from national championship contention doesn't carry the BCS weight that it may have before. Of course, for us, it all hinges on Auburn beating Georgia at home; maybe injuries will turn the toll in Auburn's favor (although after coming off a hard loss to Ole Miss, we'll see on that).

As it is, we need the Gators to win out anyway, and just root for a Georgia loss. Florida's really turned it around from earlier in the year, and I'm glad they have (it would've looked bad if it was back down to a 2-team division ). I'm kind of afraid to play you guys next year.

As for this one, I'll be happy with the SEC championship game... anything beyond that is wonderful. (Of course, I'll take a 10-win season, too - which looks possible now.)

Anyone see Kellen Winslow Jr. make a complete ass of himself after the game during a locker room interview? He threw a block on a run play and happened to injure a Vols player. When asked about it he was all like "I don't give a shit blah-blah-blah I'm an asshole." So yeah, if you didn't hate him before you'll certainly hate him now.

BTW, I just came back from drinking a lot of beer so please forgive me if I sound like an ass.

*Sigh* Yes Florida State lost so there goes FLorida's chance of getting any kind of bump from them. I guess I should be happy that FSU and Miami both lost the same week though, when was the last time that happened. And Florida won too, to Vanderbilt but still. So it looks like we're definitely out now. We didn't have too bad of a season though, and next year we'll be really good I think. If we do manage to beath FSU and win our bowl game we could also have a 10 win season. I'd say Zook is doing a fine job, going from 8 - 5 to 10 - 3, and let's face it last year's team was just not good. Unfortunately we lose Keiwan Ratliff who is possibly our team MVP. And we also lose Ben Troupe who I would take over Kellen Winslow. Winslow had about 20 more receptions than Troupe but only like 50 - 70 yards more. And Troupe doesn't run his mouth like a moron. Man was that guy way overhyped, Heisman my butt.

Is the Oregon St. game in LA or is it up north in Corvallis? I don't like the Beavers on the road. They lost to my Fresno State Bulldogs here in Fresno earlier in the year.

The Oregon State game is at USC. I still think that Pete Carroll will screw up 1 of the last 3 USC games to cost them a shot at the national title. Its tough to see LSU beating Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and an SEC East team 4 straight weeks in order to go into the national title game. Thus, that would leave the team to face Oklahoma as the winner of Michigan/Ohio State. Very strong possibility that a 2 loss Michigan team could be in the national title game. That of course would lead to an interesting question: Would Oklahoma still get a partial national title if they lost to Michigan, as they still would only have 1 loss compared to 2.
And, the way things appear to be breaking, it looks like TCU will cause the Fiesta or Orange Bowl to have a nightmare and have them in their game.

I didn't hear that, but I did hear him rip the refs. Now, I'm the first person to rip SEC refs (as we always seem to get massively penalized at home, for some reason), but if he pulls down the TD pass in the first half, this isn't even an issue.

Of course, he's now backtracking like there's no tomorrow.

As for LSU... 'Bama's off this year, Arkansas's fallen off the map, but that game could be hard, depending on where they play it. (I don't know off the top of my head). Their only challenge is Ole Miss (and the SEC East winner... they've already beaten Georgia, but they did lose to the Gators).

As it is, this year, I don't think it's an issue of who's going to be the sacrificial lamb to Oklahoma. I don't have a doubt in the world about that team; if they're motivated, they're unstoppable. Stoops will have them that way for every game.

Saw Winslow's comments, the man is an ass. He needs to learn how to lose graciously, because so far he's a very, very poor loser.

OSU did a splendid job this week against Michigan State, but it is going to be a really tough game this week against Purdue. With USC playing a fairly weak last 3 games and OSU playing three ranked teams to close out, any shot that S.O.S. will allow the Bucks to pass USC? Pipe dream, I know, as Michigan will probably destroy OSU this year. Just glad to see signs of life in the Buckeye offense.

From what I've read, if anyone can do it, it's the Buckeyes.

However, if there would be any year I'd be content not to make it to the national championship game, this'd be the year.

Damn that Vol win was ugly, but I'll take it ... things just seemed to fall in place for UT this weekend ... that's the beauty of college football ...

Winslow is a spoiled prick ... Now he's backtracking ... my guess is that Daddy Winslow had a talk with Junior.
