I think we can all generally agree that Larry Fitzgerald is far and away the best player in college football. However, because of the nature of the Gino Toretta, I'm sorry, Heisman Trophy award, we also agree that QB's have a leg up automatically. However, if Fitzgerald has a big game against VTech this week and the Panthers win, I say he has to win the trophy. What do you guys think?

In spite of their game against Oklahoma State, I STILL can't figure out why everyone has such a hard-on for Jason White. Besides "he's the QB for the #1 team". Anyone wanna explain this to me? Seriously, I mean it. Give it to Fitzgerald already.

Fitzgerald needs 200 plus/multi touchdown wins against both Virginia Tech and Miami in order to win the Heisman. It might not seem fair, but if he is playing on a 3 or 4 loss team that lost to Toledo, he's not winning the Heisman.

But if they run the table, he's on a 2 loss team that is in the Orange Bowl and lost to a decent Toledo team...I'd be (and I am) more ashamed about the home loss to ND.

EDIT: And the Heisman should go to the best player in the nation, provided he's on a half decent team, which Pitt is. I think it's clear that Fitzgerald is the best player in college football by a wide margin.

Well i was on the Eli Manning bandwagon, but despite yet another win, this time against Auburn, my vote changed from Eli to Fitzgerald yesterday. he was just outstanding on the winning drive against the number 5 team in the nation. Let's also give Rod Rutherford some credit. I mean, i'm not throwing his name in the Heisman race, but let's give the guy some credit for getting the ball to Fitzgerald.

If Fitzgerald wins then i'll be happy because the right guy won. But at the same time i'll be mad because in my humble, and biased, opinion Rex Grossman was the hands down best player in the nation his sophmore year but didn't win the Heisman because he was a sophmore. Instead Crouch won for having a good team. Grossman had 2300 more passing yards people!

I think you hit the nail on the head; Grossman just had to be satisfied with being the unofficial best player that year, as Fitzgerald may have to settle for just being the unofficial best player in the nation this year.

Now, if Pitt wins the Big East, then this may all be moot (as Fitz has to obviously play a huge role in that). That'd be the only way I see him getting the Heisman, though. At least for this year...
