Really? Because while the whole 14th-century deal isn't my normal "thing" (I'm much more of a Grisham/Baldacci/Turow-thriller type of guy) I thought the book RULED and I read it in its enitrety on a cross-country flight and I thought it was only natural that it would be made into a movie while I was reading it.

(Of course, in retrospect I don't remember thinking it'd be a great movie starring *Paul Walker*, but he's generally in movies that are OK at least (except Joyride which deserves a spot on the worst list). Did Steve Zahn really need money or something?)

Didn't read the book, but the way they were selling it really didn't help. Then again, this guy also went to a Halloween party as a suicide bomber, so I think it's safe to say his sense of humor isn't QUITE normal.

Socks: Super Mario Bros. didn't absolutely suck. It wasn't particularly good, but I don't know that I'd lump it in the same category as Wing Commander or Street Fighter II.

'Siesta' would have to be the worst film I have seen. It had a monster cast:

Martin Sheen,
Isabella Rossallini
Alexi Sayle,
Ellen Barkin,
Jodie Foster,
Grace Jones.

After sitting through the 90mins of it, me and my two buds watching it just turned to each other and said "what the f*** was all that about?"

EDIT. Its only saving grace is the full frontal nudity of Ellen Barkin.

Here's a link (IMBD)

:)

You KNOW you're in serious trouble when the pre-title big-name star is Paul Freaking Walker. "Starring....the uninteresting one from The Fast And The Furious!"

And hey, leave Weekend At Bernie's alone. Terry Kiser getting hit in the balls repeatedly is comedy GOLD.

Speed 2 is crap, but the original Speed would have been pure action gold if it had ended after the bus collided with the plane. We get the lovey-dubby climax scene with Keanu and Sandra, everybody's safe, and there's room for a sequel in the future with the same cast. Instead, we go through another half hour or so of the same thing we just did, except with more hysteria and less drama.

Butbut... then we wouldn't get to see a subway bust out of the ground! Really, though, that should tell you where their priorities were: huge-ass stunts and stuff blowing up. Kinda precludes letting a perfectly fine movie be.

I thought Frailty wasn't that bad, but if you want to see a bad Matthew McConnagaddadavidahey movie, go rent Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. Geez, does this movie suck.

And you know what deserves to be considered one of the worst movies ever? Howard The Duck.

Howard the Duck's only good point was seeing Lea Thompson in her underwear. There are quite a few movies which could be argued "worst ever". One of these I can think of, which should also hold the title of "movie requiring the most suspension of disbelief" is Soul Man. (C. Thomas Howell's character dresses up in blackface to get a minority scholarship to Harvard).

I think I'm lucky: I can't afford babysitting, so I haven't seen too many movies in the theater for the past ten years. So I watch HBO instead, or the classic movie channels. I looked forward to "Titanic" on cable because of all the buzz. I especially wanted to see the special effects, since I'm a computer graphic artist.

That movie was not just "overrated". I turned it off after the first twenty minutes, groaning in agony. And I usually have a soft spot for overwrought romance novels. This just plain stunk.

I caught a sneak preview of Timeline back in June. It was AWFUL. The only character worth caring about, is the one you see least.

You really had to see Titanic before the hype got completely out of control...which basically gave you until 5PM the day it came out. Fortunately I was able to make it to a matinee. In that context, it was a damn good movie.

I loved Unbreakable, and I liked Eyes Wide Shut.

Worst movie I've ever seen: the incomprehensible mess that was Highlander 2: The Quickening.

Worst movie I've ever seen that was actually a big hit: Armageddon. I ended up mostly focusing on whether they'd ever stay on a shot for more than 6 seconds. (They didn't.)

I am sorry but "The Skateboard Kid" has to take the cake. I mean when Dom Delouise has top billing as a talking skateboard, come on.

Bad movies? Did I scroll over it, or has no one mentioned anything from the fine cinematic body of work from one Mr. Terry Bollea? I mean, freakin' Mr. Nanny!? C'mon!

And Enojado Vieto, great call with Manos: The Hands of Fate. "The master wants you...but he cannot have you!"

Furthermore...putting Titanic at that rank is CRAP CRAP CRAP. Sure, I enjoyed Kate Winslet's funbags as much as the next dude, but as a student of the disaster, I watched that movie mostly to see James Cameron's take on the ship itself. And he pretty much nailed it SPOT ON. Absolutely freakin' beautiful.

About the only part he screwed up was the flashlights in the lifeboats looking for survivors afterwards. But as Cameron said in a production book I've got, "We had to light the scene somehow."

Yeah, because that one turned out REALLY BAD.

Video game movies are doomed. The guy who made House of the Dead (Uwe Bolle?) has already been offered 2-3 other videogame adaptations. God hates video game movies.

Oh PLEASE. Manos isn't even the worst movie ever on MST3K, let alone the worst of all time.

That would go to Eegah, or possibly Wild World of Batwoman, both of which are really painfully bad.

Mike, who loves Manos and WWOB anyway :)

I agree about "Batwoman," but c'mon. No "Monster A Go-Go" or, god help us all, "Red Zone Cuba?"

I find those to be among the titans of crap MST3K movies. Oh sure there are others--"Robot Holocuast" and the "Gamera" movies have their own weird charm, but "Red Zone Cuba" sucks harder than an airplane toilet. John Carradine *singing,* for Christ's sake=PAIN.

What the hell is wrong with Vanilla Sky? It's got to easily be one of the best movies of 2001. The acting, the amazing soundtrack, the story...I don't understand so many people's hatred of this movie!

There're bad movies that're fun to make fun of (Manos, Coleman Francis' horrors) and then there're just BAD ones (Monster A Go-Go and my own personal hell, The Castle Of Fu Manchu, Attack of the Eye Creatures...) The MST guys are far, far greater men than we for watching them nine or ten times over.

OK, out of the list... I really enjoyed Mars Attacks, the first Speed, and Frailty, I actually loved... but anyways.

Harvard Man might be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It had a pretty big cast, but the entire movie was just TERRIBLE.

Another would be Backyard Dogs. Besides the fact that anyone who would see it would have an immediate negative view of any professional wrestling, it's so horrifically badly shot, directed, and acted that I want to choke out anyone who was involved.

whatever

Come on now. Resident Evil wasn't too bad, and...

Nope. That's all I got. Sorry.
