I love the guy and he's one of my favorite players of all time, but boy oh boy do I hope his last season isn't spent on the injured list and hopefully it won't be like other greats last seasons ie Emmitt and Gwynn.
Edgar can probably swing the stick until he's 85, it's the running I worry about. He is one of the good guys in the game though and his loyalty to the M's should earn him the first ever number retired. Give 'em hell Edgar! Promote this thread! | | BigVitoMark

For all the good things you could say about Tony Gwynn, by the time he was done he was nothing more than a fat guy who hit singles. No power to hit the ball deep, no speed to stretch out an extra base, just a whole bunch of one-base hits. Martinez may not be the fastest guy but he's no John Olerud either, and as long as he's going to keep himself fit he'll probably have a job, at least in the AL.
But then, I'm an A's fan, so I wish the guy would just retire already. | James F'n X

| #3 Posted on 6.11.03 0936.51 Reposted on: 6.11.10 0941.56 | Why? The M's re-signing Edgar for one more tour of duty on the Not-So-Good Ship Mariner is money the M's aren't spending to try and, you know, IMPROVE THE TEAM.
At this rate, congrats to the threepeat AL West Champion Oakland Athletics. May you bow out of the playoffs at the wild card level yet again. | BigDaddyLoco

They guy is still the best right-handed DH there is and for .300/25/100 that's a steal. If the M's can upgrade their power at third or first base they'll be ok. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
