Yes, it's true (according to this article).

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/04/entertainment/main581720.shtml

Well, they let Al Gore have his shot hosting, and that went all right. I assume most of America will suddenly find something better to do on December 6th....unless this is one of those "car wreck" situations- it's ugly, but you can't look away.

Oh, he knows that himself. He's just running to make sure his issues are heard in the campaign. He knows his chance of winning is just about statistically equal to, say, mine.

Now, as for the show, the best two episodes last year (aside from the Walken episode which is always on it's own level of the universe) were probably the Al Gore and John McCain shows. I even remember them getting a decent show out of Steve Forbes, who wasn't exactly bursting in the personality department. Say what you will about Sharpton, at heart he's a showman and should do a damn fine job.

I thought he was running so he could get more $$$ for his speeches by being an "Ex-Presedential Candidate".

Word. The SNL writers always seem to save better material for the politician/athlete hosts, probably in order to prop up any stiff acting on their part. But then again, maybe my favourite SNL moment of last year was John McCain recording a Barbra Streisand cover album. "If she think she can do my job, I'm doing to do hers!"

Technically though, I wonder if this comes under the Fairness Doctrine. This isn't "news" so theoretically all of the other candidates might be entitled to equal time since he Sharpton is an active candidate.

Come on -- it's Saturday Night Live. Sharpton deserves hardship pay if he goes through with this. Would YOU want to spend quality time with Jimmy Fallon?

I haven't watched SNL in years but for the Right Rev. Al, I will make an exception. He was on his game last night in the debate and he will definitely be on his game in front of a very friendly home crowd that night.

If nothing else, this should guarantee a pretty damn entertaining Hardball sketch in that episode.

Tue, but nothing beats Harry Belafonte's "OSAMA BIN-LADEN IS AN UNCLE TOM!".

That skit is nothing without Chris Kattan as "Paul Begala".

Sharpton could not possibly be worse than Andy Roddick this past week. Talk. About. Wooden.

What what. Andy Roddick's a little charmer. He's also easier on the eyes than Al Sharpton. You'd have to give him that at least.
