| #1 Posted on 1.11.03 1534.41 Reposted on: 1.11.10 1535.32 | The Randy Savage CD flash ads on 1wrestling.com were really annoying me, so I sought out information on one of Mozilla/Firebird's lesser known features: custom CSS. Using custom CSS, you can block portions of pages based on certain patterns.
The Firebird folks have a very useful Ad Blocking CSS file, and I modified this by adding a few additional rules to block out ads on 1wrestling, specifically the Macho Man flash ad. You can download my version with modifications from here.
When you've downloaded it, you need to place in your profile directory's chrome subdirectory. On Windows, this will by default be somewhere like:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Phoenix( or Mozilla)\Profiles\Username\????????.slt\chrome
If you have the browser open, you'll need to close it and reopen it. After that, you shouldn't see too many ads anywhere, and you especially won't see, or hear, the Macho Man ad. I hope someone finds this information useful.
If you're curious about Mozilla or Firebird, you can download their latest versions: Mozilla 1.5 / Firebird 0.7. | Promote this thread! | | drjayphd

I just tried it out, and Opera doesn't seem to care for my CSS file, but it's probably because Mozilla makes use of some CSS3 extensions that Opera may not. Look in your Opera\Styles\User directory for examples of what they allow. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
