And before people scream that it's unfair to fire him after going to a (lower level) bowl last season, the nitwit Davies was fired the season after going to a BCS game. The game actually wasn't televised here. Then again, that might be because it was an ABC game (I guess?) and Penn State was "playing" early. What's shocked me about Willingham's team this year is they're sloppy. I'm not a ND fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't remember ever watching them miss as many tackles as I've seen in two games this year. I think they give Ty at least another season, just because this team has among the last of the players recruited by Davies (I think). They might give him the chance to show what he can do with players recruited specifically for his system. But then again, I'm an idealist and I dig the stoicism with sunglasses look he's got goin' on.

But it's even worse when Notre Dame is playing away from home and one of the national broadcast pick it up for my area.

Notre Dame's remaining schedule is Florida State, Navy, BYU, Stanford, Syracuse. The State University of New Jersey is not on the schedule. And, up until losing to BC, every team Notre Dame has played this season has been ranked at some point in the Top 11 in one of the two polls. | Zeruel

I think that ND has been sucking this year so bad that Navy actually has a chance to beat ND.
True, they lost to I-AA Deleware, but they are 5-3 (1-1 vs I-AA teams) and they're on pace for their first bowl game since like 96 in the Ahola bowl when they beat Cal.
ND (2-5) will be lucky if they finish at (4-8) (I'm predicting they lose to FSU, NAVY, and Stanford.) | evilwaldo

Exactly. Any bowl would love to have either Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, or Notre Dame on their list. Any of those 4 schools can easily fill the bowl by themselves. Most bowl games are half empty or filled with comped tickets but put those schools in and you have instant sell out, hotel rooms and restaurants filled and the local economy pumped with $'s. | Big Bad

Oh come on. The only colour they care about at Notre Dame is green, as in money from high-profile bowl games, high NBC ratings, etc.
This season is a wash because they're still getting Davie out of their bloodstream. If Willingham has another poor year next season, he'll very likely get fired. Race has nothing to do with it. | ges7184

I have to agree with Big Bad. Bobby Williams was constantly singled out as one of a handful of black coaches when he was at Michigan St. Despite that high profile, the regents at MSU didn't think twice about booting him out last year. In hindsight (considering their current record), that may have been a good move. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
