I was just wandering around the internet when I found a list of the actors who have had the highest gross of all their movies combined at the box office. Here's a list of the top 10.

1. Harrison Ford $3,165,481,472 That's right, his movies have grossed 3.1 BILLION dollars. As a matter of fact his 31 movies have AVERAGED 100 million PER movie! Amazing.
2. Tom Hanks $2,530,579,431 No Surprise here, Harrison Ford has the most total and average per movie but Hanks last 10 movies have averaged 179 million per movie compared to Harrison's 96.2 million.
3. Samuel L. Jackson $2,277,707,910 There aren't really many of his movies that stick out to me as far as huge blockbusters, other than the Phantom Menace, but he benefits from being in more movies that most of the people on the list.
4. Bruce Willis $1,951,064,037
5. Robin Williams $1,938,513,970
6. Tom Cruise $1,883,879,411
7. Mel Gibson $1,836,824,808
8. Bill Paxton $1,830,367,785 This one i'm confused about, Bill Paxton?? He's been in more movies than most of the guys also, but only by about 10 movies. I don't have a clue how he's on the top 10.
9. Eddie Murphy $1,824,006,242
10. Gene Hackman $1,671,844,269 Again, another one who benefits from being in a lot of movies, he's been in 73 movies which is 20 more than the second most (53 by Samuel L.) and more than twice as many movies as the rest except for Bill Paxton (42)
NOTE: Will Smith is first in average gross per film (103.3 million) just ahead of Harrison Ford (102.1), but has only had 9 movies so far so he hasn't had enough movies to get up there in total.

SO ANYWAY, what does this have to do with Denzel Washington, well when thinking of the past actors today Denzel is one of the first guys I think of so I look down the list and see that he is 41st! 41st?? What?? Keanu Reeves has grossed more than Denzel? Billy Zane? Matthew Broderick? Gary Sinise had done half as many movies and has grossed more than Denzel?? RICK F'N MORANIS movies have grossed more than Denzel Washington??

What kind of crap is the population watching!? I demand that everyone go and watch John Q this weekend, I don't care if it has gotten bad reviews! I don't care if it sucks! Denzel deserves better than this!!

Choice of movies has so much to do with it. Take Demi Moore, for instance. Remember when she was maybe the biggest female star in movies? Then she does Striptease, she does The Scarlet Letter, and that's all it took... she looked like an idiot and immediately fell off the face of the earth. Another person I used to love -- Winona Ryder -- has done about one semi-popular movie in 15 years. Don't hear much about her anymore either. Denzel hasn't sabotaged his career with his choices, but he hasn't chosen too many huge hits either. Of course, maybe he doesn't WANNA be in Independence Day.

Bill Paxton was in Twister, Titanic, and True Lies. All of those movies grossed in the hundreds of millions of dollars so I'm not surprised to see that. Checking out IMDB I also see Aliens, Terminator, Weird Science, and Tombstone on that list.

Bottom Line: Bill Paxton=$$$$.

Denzel is the man. I've seen John Q and i thought it was better than the reviews give it credit for. I thought Hurricane, Bone Collector and Crimson Tide were all really good movies. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Training Day since i missed it in theaters. Heck, Fallen wasn't half bad either. I think the reason Denzel isn't on this list is because most of his movies aren't released in the summer when business picks up.

Samuel L. Jackson is one of those guys who has been in a hell of a lot of films that I never recognised him in. I watched Jurassic Park the other day and beforehand had completely missed the fact that it was him in it (in a decent role too!). I watched Goodfellas two days ago and he had a role in that too. It's probably because no-one really knew who he was before Pulp Fiction but he had been a jobbing actor for years beforehand. Perhaps a lot of movies that he had bit parts in may have been classed as "Samuel L. Jackson movies" for the purpose of this poll explaining his #3 placing.

Wow, I don't remember Samuel L. Jackson being in Jurassic Park either.

On this webpage I as looking at there is one section that is movies they starred in and one section of just all the movies they've been in. I was going by the list of just ones they've been in, maybe I should've gone by ones they starred in.

After looking at the list again Samuel L. has only starred in 23 of his 53 movies. Bill Paxton has starred in 21 out of 42 of his movies. While the rest of them have starred in nearly all the movies they've been in.

Actually they don't show the total amount that the movies they've starred in have grossed. But they do show the average per movie. And the actor who grosses the most per movie they've starred in is Tim Allen.

Gee people. Do all you care about is money. Have you ever thought that maybe he just does movies he wants to do and not worries about how much money it pays. Man if i had his salery i'd be happy. And its his life so why are you complaining about it? Makes no sense. Worry about your own lives.

I have to say I'm kind of surprised Jeff Goldblum isn't on that list, considering he was in 2 Jurassic Park movies and Independence Day, plus all the other things he did.
