My theory ... Triple H ...
Since he's "rumored" to be getting a rematch at Survivor Series, it wouldn't surprise me to see WWE pull a "he was trying to collect his own bounty" storyline since there really is no other viable heel ...

| #3 Posted on 20.10.03 1436.18 Reposted on: 20.10.10 1437.18 | I think you're on the right track there Mayhem but not quite. With Nash on the shelf I think the best choice to take the bounty is...
Batista
I mean he is going to be back soon i'm guessing since he's healthy enough to wrestle in OVW. So who better to get the bounty then Triple H's stablemate. They could come up with some angle where the whole thing was just a trick to get people to attack Goldberg and get people HBK to turn on him when they all along were going to keep it in the stable and give Batista the prize. Then after Goldberg beats Batista he can then move on to Triple H for the rematch at Survivor Series. What better way to bring back someone who has been on the shelf then to have him be Goldberg's attacker. It's a good way to make Batista a serious player. Sure the Batista/Goldberg match won't be pretty but neither was the scheduled Nash/Goldberg match. | SKLOKAZOID

| #4 Posted on 20.10.03 1441.59 Reposted on: 20.10.10 1442.43 | My guess is that it's either HHH, Orton, or Batista.
The HHH scenario is very likely, as he has done the exact same angle at least twice in the past ("It was me, Austin!" and "It was me, HBK!"). It wasn't exactly the same angle, as there is no hidden identity, but it's in the same vein of having many potential superstars to choose from and having it, ultimately, end with HHH accomplishing the task.
Orton is also very likely. The early plan around SummerSlam was for some big HHH-Orton feud to make him into a main eventer. So, what better way to give Orton a big head and have him established as being superior to HHH than by having him take out Goldberg? Then, HHH beats him.
Batista is coming back and he's big, and he ties into the Evolution stable, so he's another likely suspect. Of course, Batista isn't really much in the charisma department, nor has he shown any real potential (well, he does have tattoos, I guess), but it's possible. Gives Goldberg someone to feud with while HHH hogs the title feud with Orton.
None of these scenarios are any good. | KoRnhornio

This sounds way too much like Rikishi being Austin's attacker. But it does sound like something they'd do.
Every time they set up one of these "mystery" angles (who is the higher power, who attacked Austin/Goldberg, etc.) the ending turns out to be a huge letdown. I hope this will be the first one that actually pays off, but given their recent record, I doubt it... | Mayhem

I agree ... this will probably be a letdown as well ... the only thing that they can really do is maybe bring a Smackdown guy over to RAW. | geemoney

Batista is the only other choice to HHH and Orton yet that really doesn't seem to excite anyone. Nash would of been boring as well. Can anyone think of someone not in the promotion or that is out with an injury that would be a fun choice to mess with Goldberg till Trips comes back? | geemoney

Scotty 2 Hotty? Oh wait, you said FUN choice. They could have it be Bob Holly. I'd pay to see that match, only becaus I KNOW one of them would start shooting on the other for being too stiff.

HHH - I'm telling ya, wrestlers don't make good bounty hunters. You need a professional...who's willing to go within ten feet of Bill Goldberg. Hope reigns eternal. | geemoney

You know the sick bastard part of me would love to see someone go nuts one day and just break the script and go at someone. Now if this someone happened to be HHH and the person to go nuts were someone he was holding down or felt held down that would just be classic tv. Then again that is the sick bastard part of me.
