I saw this on Scott Keith's RAW Rant:

Earlier tonight, the rookies play video games (which is an inside shot at Booker T).

Does anyone know what, exactly, that means? And why are the WWE wasting airtime doing inside digs on current talent that no one who doesn't get the WON will get?

Booker T apparently said he takes his systems with him on the road and there was something in JR's column about certain guys playing videogames instead of paying attention to the matches.

Oh, please. It's called hyping the product. So what if Booker T likes to play video games instead of watch Triple H's or Rob Van Dam's matches? As long as his match quality and fan interest aren't affected, which they're not, he could be huffing crack and banging roadies for all I care.

Yeah, this was TOTALLY a dig at Booker and not in any way shape or form a way to advertise the brand new WWE video game that they were playing. Give me a break. Not everything the WWE does is a way at getting back at one of their workers. I guess when they used to show people playing the new WWE video games in the past they were digging at other people too. Methinks someone is trying to read into this too much or is trying to start something that just isn't there.

There may very well be a subtle point being made by highlighting the fact that the *rookies* are the ones playing video games. However, I don't see how its specifically a shot at Booker T. Several wrestlers are known for playing video games while on tour, including Christian, Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer, Test, and most notably, Kane.

I'm positive when Molly ripped the pages out of Lita's book and shoved it in her Lita's throat it was a total shoot on Bookworm Lance Storm... Take THAT, you novel reading SOB.

P.S Gugs, I think you mean Groupies not Roadies. Personally if Booker is banging the WWE roadies I've seen I'd be a little concerned. LoL... But then again who I'm I to judge Booker (image removed) Ralphus

C'mon now, everytime they need to show a group of wrestlers doing ANYTHING backstage, it's always the rookies.

Kane strikes me as the kind of guy where you would whup his ass for the majority of the time you're playing video games with him, just so everyone watching knows you could totally do it if you wanted, then quickly let him win at the end to keep him from getting angry.

Getting back sort of implies that Booker must have done something that would require vengeance, does it not? What has Booker ever done to warrant on-air shots being taken at him?

I dunno...from what I've heard, Glen Jacobs is a pretty laid-back guy in real life. [/knowitallinternetsmark]

That video-game skit was actually one of the better character-building things they've done on RAW in a while. Instead of being two generic muscled guys, Cade and Jindrak got a bit of an edge in the fans' minds now; sure, it might just be "the video game playing guys," but at least it's something. Now, if this innocent vignette becomes their whole gimmick (i.e. Shane Helms and his Green Lantern tattoo), I won't be happy at seeing the Super Smash Brothers in the WWE.

I think that could be a cool gimmick. Cade could dress up as the Toadstool Princess and toss turnips at the all the heels.

Yeah, but how's Jindrak gonna eat everyone and steal their moves? Maybe even their ring gear, too. See, it's just dripping with logistical issues... which will probably be resolved posthaste.

As a video gamer myself, I like the idea of the younger guys on RAW being into video games and comics. It shows that they know their target audience. I think it'd be cool if Jindrak, Cade, and Maven made playing video games part of their gimmick. Imagine if they used created versions of themselves to play out simulated matches, and commented on them. They could even provide "analysis" of upcoming matches (kinda like how TNT uses NBA Live to play out different matchups). It'd be cool...

Hey, don't knock it, that Green Lantern tattoo put Mr. Helms on the map.

I also could've sworn that in Triple H's big speech to the RAW roster one night, he mentioned how the wrestlers should be watching the matches on the TV and not playing video games.

"Mah gawd, King! Garrison Cade just bounced a fireball toward Rene Dupree!"
"And look, Mark Jindrak just jumped on top of Conway's head! I think he's out cold, JR!"
"What're they up to now..where did that huge pipe come from?!"
"They're going down in the pipe! They're..they're gone!"

And thus, the transfer to SmackDown is complete.

Mike, in a rather silly mood today

It would be awesome if they cut a deal with Nintendo to use the old 8-bit Super Mario Bros. theme for the wrestlers.

Even if they weren't straight Mario rip-offs, there's plenty of other video game *material* for them to draw on. Make Ernest 'The Cat'(z) Miller their manager and he can riff on the "All Your Base..." catchphrase.

Best video game skit ever aired was one hyping the ECW video game...

The video game Joey Styles was kicking the shit out of the video game Cyrus.

When they came back to the announcers, Cyrus was glaring at Styles.

It aired on one of their final PPVs.

Whoa, how about this, Scott Keith: Maybe Booker T was taking an OUTSIDE shot at Triple H?
