-This week's edition of Raw did a 3.6 cable rating, with a 5 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down a tenth of a point from last week. The show did hours of 3.4 and 3.8. While the company often gets a ratings boost on the show after the PPV, last night was the first evening of new programming on the major networks and that appeared to hurt Raw's number.
It's interesting to note that the highest rated quarter hour of the show was the 10:00 to 10:15 segment, which featured the women's match and a recap of the Scott Steiner-Test angle. It did a 4.1 rating, After that, the show dropped to a 3.8, 3.7 and 3.5 before the overrun did a 3.8. No matter how you spin it, those are not good numbers.-
So the hours did 3.4 and 3.8 for a total of 3.6. Last week did a 3.4 and 4.0 for a total of 3.7
The number falling throughout the second hour was a horrible sign
10PM-10:15 - 4.1 -- Women Tag match
10:15-10:30- 3.8 -- Steiner/Test/Stacy parking lot... Shane/Kane hospitial... beginning Hurricane/Rosie/Frenchies
10:30-10:45- 3.7 -- Rest of Hurricane/ Rosie/ Frenchies... Evolution/Team Green.
10:45-11PM - 3.5 -- Rock in Hollywood (MNF Halftime)
Overrun - 3.8 -- Goldberg/Jericho
Not a good sign at all especially having a women segment beat out a World title overrun. That's just bad even from this women wrestling mark... I liked this weeks show a lot.
Well it doesn't seem like there's a connection with MNF numbers and Raw. Last week MNF was way up and so was Raw. This week MNF numbers are down and so were Raw's
*MNF was way down from 9 to 11 last night. This weeks average was 11.2 from 9 to 11 compared to last week 13.6... Half hour breakdown for this weeks MNF are.. 9-9:30= 11.4.. 9:30-10PM= 11.8.. 10PM-10:30= 11.3.. 10:30-11PM= 10.2. Last weeks 4 half hours from 9-11 were (13.0, 15.0, 14.2, 12.0)

I think Goldberg should have taken the title at SummerSlam because he's seemed to lose steam the past month. Beating Goldberg that early was a mistake, IMO. The whole Career stipulation and extra month of TV just made the title win very anti-climatic.
Secondly, I think Triple H's World Title run went a few months too long to begin with. It passed the point of people wanting to see him get beat into apathy.
People argued for the past year that it was right for Triple H to run through every over face on the RAW roster because at the end of the day, when he dropped the title, it would be huge and create a huge star. So what are we left with after the longest title run since Nash? A bunch of faces with major credibility issues, a World Champion that was already over but has been exposed and seems less over with the belt, and a 3.6. | darkmatcher

The lesson here: More good women's wrestling. I want Lita vs. Victoria and I want it now, dammit! :) | Notorious F.A.B.

A lot of that (IMO) has to do with what the faces did after their programs with Hunter. There should have been a lot of mix and match feuds between those guys, each vying for a title shot. A Booker T. / Jericho feud would have been nice. More Jericho / RVD. RVD / Booker. Booker / Kane. Etc etc etc. Instead for the most part, their title shots came out of nowhere and they never really did anything after losing to Hunter.
On another topic entirely, it sucks that fewer people saw Jericho / Goldberg. I bet WWE wanted that match to legitimize Goldberg's run in the eyes of people who didn't buy the PPV. | Tribal Prophet

Didn't someone here do a list of all the ratings for a year that showed that there was NO ratings boost?
Has anyone else noticed that after *every* PPV, we see messages like "the ratings usually jump after a PPV, but didn't this week" at different sites?

| #8 Posted on 24.9.03 0729.50 Reposted on: 24.9.10 0730.42 | On the reason MNF rating went down this week: It was 21-0 in the first quarter, and it wasn't even that close. As for the RAW ratings, this is the ratings range its going to be in for the next 3 months. If it dips below 3.4, then there is a Katie Vick'esque problem. And, considering the past few weeks we have fairly blamed 'When Announcers Collide' for being a weak lead in to the main event, wouldn't it also be fair to blame the weak quarter hour before the main event on the person that was in it (especially since it was at halftime of MNF in the east and central time zones)? | Tenken347

Yeah. They should have been defending the World Title. Not stuck in stupid tag teams.
All kidding aside, they should have been paired up for title shot matches against HHH, absolutely. The problem is, after their feuds with HHH, their stock value plummeted to the point where rematches against HHH wouldn't have drawn anyway.
RVD, Kane, and Booker T all drew crap after feuding with HHH, so why give any of those three the opportunity to have another title shot against HHH? HHH needed new opponents after completely ruining his old ones and tossing them out to the compost heap.
Hell, HHH has been drawing crap for the last year, so why did they give this guy the opportunity to hold onto the title?
The only exception to the rule was Kane, who somehow rose after losing his mask and last title shot against HHH. A lot of the ratings surge over the last summer has been attributed to him, and rightfully so. But, now that's being ruined after his feud with Shane.
Even then, I doubt they would have put Kane over HHH.
WWE is full of uninspired, bad timing. And it has cost them dearly. Goldberg won at least a month too late, and some would argue that he should have won at Badd Blood. And, even more would probably argue that Booker T should have won at WrestleMania, but I guess Goldberg signed the deal at that time, and Booker T got screwed.
The ratings are down now? Who cares? Even during the big ratings surge, attendance was down, PPV buyrates were down (with the exception of Badd Blood, fueled by the big HHH/Goldberg match), and those equate to more money than ratings do. | theUnseenPower

That is SO true. I don't think there has been a real post PPV ratings boost since wrestling's last boom period when the hoards of casual fans who didn't order the PPV tuned in to get the rundown of what happened. Unless I'm wrong? | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
