That brings up another weird point. Q104.3 here in New York plays newer songs by some classic rockers, but not others. For example, we get Springsteen's The Rising, The Stones' Don't Stop, Skynyrd's Red White & Blue, but to my knowledge, we didn't hear anything from David Bowie's Heathen album, as well as others that aren't coming to mind right now. What's with the inconsistency?

One of the things that I found really odd, (but didn't mind) was 106.1RDU the Classic Rock station for the triangle started playing Kenny Wayne Sheppard's "Blue on Black" as soon as it came out. They also put on a bunch of his other stuff as it was released (his cover of "Everything is Broken" was a big one), but Blue on Black is the only one that gets play these days.

Anybody else have their stations latch onto new guys who have that 'Classic Rock' sound?

I don't remember the last time I heard a post-Changes (or better yet, the Let's Dance album or later) on a classic rock station. It's usually the older stuff by Bowie. I think it was DHA (105.5) that played a block of Bowie last week that was "John, I'm Only Dancing", "Suffragetcity", "Under Pressure", and "Young Americans"....I think. I don't really know why any Bowie wouldn't be considered "newer songs by classic rockers." I know Styx is considered an 80's rock band by some (not by all though, more classic rock I would think), but when they came out with their new album last year, it was all over the classic rock stations.

As a side note, I heard "Waiting for a Girl Like You" on the oldies station, soon followed by "Sexual Healing". 22 years makes for oldies now??? That is so not right. Kinda right up there with the kid at the park last spring saying to me, "hey mister!". Damn.
