Great job my friend - even if I did SMOKE you time-wise. So WHAT if you out-word me by a ratio of at least 8:1 and I had about 129 spelling errors? Ontario 1, Quebec no score! I AM A LIVING LEGEND AND THE UN-DEE-SPEE-YU-TED CHAMPION!

Great, great job, especially consdiering you covered it LIVE and didn't have the luxury of a rewind button. That's a hella-lot of work, but it came off great. Your notes were quite extensive - you must have been scribbling like a madman.

It's not too hard to tell that I went to the CRZ School Of Recapping (well, the MOTIVATED CRZ School Of Recapping - insert extremely funny "Up Yours, Ya Lousy Canuck - CRZ" comment here), and it's interesting to see the "clash of styles" here. For me, time is a factor becuase I want to get it done for the next morning while still retaining at least two hours of sleep - for you, time is not as much of a factor, which gives you the luxury of adding everything you'd like to add, but delays the posting of your recap. I wouldn't say either style is 'better', but it is interesting to see the differences.

I'll be interesting to see what details I'm able to jam into what I'm hoping will be a pretty extensive WrestleMania X8 recap. I don't know if it'll be as detailed as yours, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Again, great job!

Oh, by the way - Dow Jones gimmick = awesome!

I LOVED his recap. I'm sure being able to speak les deux langues helped a lot! I'm not convinced that nos amis au sud de la frontière will be able to understand everything though.

Very divertissant!

Thanks Brewguy, xixor, CRZ. So can I get "Ya Lousy Canuck" as my tag now?

I was worried about the whole insertion of French to be honest, but truthfully I didn't put in as much as I could have. I translated most of the ring announcements and promos for instance. I did try to keep the French down to stuff that made sense in context or that reads as a funny spelling of an English word.

Actually, in my Born 2 Bleed recap, I threw in an entire promo in French and no-one complained or asked for it to be translated or even mentioned it come to that.

Did anyone have real problems?

Oh and xixor81, as long as we're talking, any comments on the whole Acadien vs. Quebecois thing?
(One of my worries about that bit was that no-one from outside of Canada or maybe even New-Brunswick would get it. I also figured that it might piss off a pure laine Quebecois assuming that they ever read it, and that would just devastate me...)

Well, you can say that I'm a so-called "pure laine Québécois". I was born and raised here. I didn't find your comments about l'Acadie offensive. Au contraire! I found your take on history very interesting. It's also enrichissant looking at history from another point of view. Et de toutes façons, je ne peux vraiment pas te contredire! Everything you said on the subject like "Je me souviens" was right on.

I also laughed my ass off reading how you and Kurgan might be related because "Northern New Brunswick not being noted for its genetic diversity".

Again, I don't know if people living in California, or even Ontario will get it but it's certainly entertaining to me!

C'est Kurrgan, so on peut rouler les R. Kurrrrrrrrrrrgan!

Now see, dropping terms like "pure laine" would really lose people, although honestly why a group of people would take pride in claiming that they're SHEEP is totally beyond me.

(For the Non-French in the crowd, Laine is french for wool, and "pure-laine" is a term for someone who is 100% Quebecois Francophone and damn proud/snotty as hell about it, and probably a separatist to boot. Us mixed breeds, i.e. me, don't get along all that well with the pure laine's. Comes from them calling us "ethniques" and blaming us for stuff. Which reminds me that I really have to work in my David Gennario inspired rant sometime about how the Irish reacted when the Quebecois started calling them "maudit Anglais".)

I originally posted this as a new thread in `Guest Columns.' I probably should have looked here first.

Llakor, you're a crack-monkey. 10,000 words?

If your goal is to reach CRZ's level, you're almost there: you succeeded in keeping me reading about matches I have absolutely no reason to care about. CRZ's Nitro recaps from late 1999 are the pinnacle of this achievement, but getting me to read, rapt, about a Sid-referee'd Kurrgan match in a house show in Montreal has to count for something...

My favorite bits:

    radically invasive arboreal colonectomy

Dude, there is coffee all over my keyboard now.

    four-year-old niece

Llakor, here's your chance to sieze the day; harness the power of this pint-sized dictator and rule the world! (Or at least the squirrels)

Kurrgan and me are in the way of being distantly related, Northern New Brunswick not being noted for its genetic diversity

Having met more than a few folk from BAT-urst (and surrounding wastelands) in my day, I'm afraid I can't disagree...

And, of course, the Canadian history lesson from a rational yet still Canadien-Francais perspective was neat. The Anglo spin on things like the Expulsion and the Revolution Tranquille (tranquille my ass) is pretty weak (based on what I learned in school, anyway). And frankly except for Anglocized pariahs like Trudeau, I've never heard much other than saber-rattling from the Quebecois camp.

Anyways, somebody read the fruits of your hard labors and enjoyed it. Nice work.
