Yeah, I know. It's been done to death. But what I want to know is how many of you are actually telling the WWF that / if you are upset with their programming. And emailing them something that either has no capitals or all capitals doesn't count.

Below is a letter written to wwffans@wwf.com (since the link to give raw feedback wasn't working). If you want to write your own letter, please do! Maybe - just maybe - we can effect a small amount of change if enough of us don't like it.

Okay, I'm living in a dream world. It's true.

Letter is as follows:

To Whom It May Concern,

I am sending this email here because the "give us your feedback" link on the WWF Raw site does not work.

I am writing to register my displeasure in the quality of the writing for the two main WWF shows - Raw and Smackdown - as well as for the Pay Per Views from the past... well, from the past while let us say. This displeasure came to a head on this Monday's Raw when, after Stone Cold Steve Austin was arrested for throwing a few beers and a few punches, the nWo took it upon themselves to try and kill The Rock.

Now, I want to make sure I have this right. Austin goes to jail for hitting a security guy... all right off-duty cop. Whatever. Are we expected to believe that the nWo can just show up at the next Smackdown without being arrested for:

- Destruction of an ambulance
- Theft of a truck (or did the nWo own that truck Hogan was driving?)
- Assault and battery
- Assault with a deadly weapon (What, hammers don't tickle?)
- Hit and run

There was one more thing... what was it again? Oh yeah,

- ATTEMPTED MURDER!

This is one example of kind of inconsistencies that drive intelligent people insane, but continue to appear on your programming. Perhaps if the writing team were to concentrate on writing stories for the wrestlers instead of trying to find ways to keep Stephanie McMahon on my television screen (Vince forgives her? Just like that? WHAT?!), these things would not happen. Wrestling fans have their collective intelligence insulted all the time by non-wrestling fans, we don't need your creative team to do it too.

I am still upset with you for breaking your promise of getting Stephanie off television after the failure of the WCW/ECW invasion. She does not make for compelling television. Well, that's not true. She DOES compel me to change the channel or run screaming from the room if I am watching with friends who will not change the channel or at least hit the mute button. You think I'm kidding, but there is no hyperbole in the above sentence. I have literally run screaming from the room to escape her voice. Stephanie's continued involvement in WWF programming assures that I will never buy a ticket to a live event - including Wrestlemania - because I cannot mute Stephanie at a live event, nor can I escape her. I am afraid my head might explode in such a situation. All right, THAT was a little hyperbole.

I digress.

The correct this problem, I would suggest either hiring competent writers, or putting the writers you currently have through some kind of course in recognizing gaping plot holes you could drive a truck through. Kind of like the one you DID drive a truck through on Monday. To freshen up the programming, I would also like to suggest the following things:

- Heels don't have to all be on the same side. Neither do faces for that matter. This isn't the Superfriends. Please keep this in mind if the rumored promotion split occurs.
- It's all well and good to have a champion who cheated to get there, but that doesn't mean he has to cheat against EVERYBODY. See: Jericho vs. Rikishi, Jericho vs. Edge for examples of this phenomenon taken to a ridiculous degree. If Jericho has to cheat against Edge, then no amount of cheating in the world should be able to help him against Austin, HHH or any other of the top stars.
- If someone like the Undertaker, who has given 11 years of his life to the WWF, notices that his boss is trying to kill that company because Vince lost a match to a multiple time world champion AND doesn't see a problem with this, I would say Undertaker is the biggest idiot of all time. Or perhaps I should scream THE BIGGEST IDIOT IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT as Michael Cole would do. Same goes with Angle. This is a special example of my first point, I suppose.
- And, finally, would a little more wrestling on your wrestling programs be too much to ask for?

Thank you for your time,

Corey Gaudette,
Waterloo, Ontario

Very well put together letter. I've always wanted to write a letter to the WWF like that, but I figured they either wouldnt care about what I had to say or they would be too busy to read the INSANELY LONG email I'm sure I'd come up with to fully explain all the issues I wanted to bring to their attention.

Not that I think they have that many issues or anything, I'm just that long winded.

Are you looking for logic in Pro Wrestling?

Logic...In Pro Wrestling?

Huh-uh.

Not going to happen.

The very idea of pro-wrestling is illogical. Men beat eachother to a pulp, declaring their intentions to try to literally break eachothers bones straight away.

Guys act insane. Guys act like Superheros. Guys pretend to be dead, or burned or whatever. There's the whole concept of gimmicks which, if these people were really like this, we'd declare most them certifiably insane.

William Regal's current gimmick is ASSULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. That's his GIMMICK!! The very concept of a "hardcore" match is the same.

If you're looking for reality, I'd suggest that pro-wrestling is a poor place to start.

Are we expected to believe that the nWo can just show up at the next Smackdown without being arrested for: Blahbitty blah blah blah?

Uh...Yes... Since when did that happen in the WWF? Austin tried to kill HHH...did anyone really say anything (except HHH when he rose from the dead)? When Austin destroyed Vince's cars, or Rock's car, or when HHH finally said that it was him Austin...It was him all along...Did anyone say anything?

No...

The pro-wrestling world exists outside the bounds of reality. Sometimes you just have to accept that things happen that don't make sense.

The angle last night was really cool. Please don't overanalyze it to death. It's just wrestling.

I once e-mailed the WWF asking them to make a shirt with Rock's hand on the front, and BYE! in big letters on the back. I got no response

I wouldn't have a problem with any of this if they hadn't already had the cops arrest someone on the show. If they want to have people getting run over every other week, that's fine, but they're the ones who suggested that wrestlers could be arrested, in fact one had just been arrested about an hour before.

I guess my real problem is the inability of the WWF to define where "real world" ends and "Sports Entertainment World" begins. The border tends to jump around for every angle. See also: Is the cameraman really there, or not?

Or are we expected to believe that faces are too honorable to call the cops when they have a problem? I suppose I could accept that, even if it sends the completely wrong message. Hell, action movies have been sending THAT message for decades.

The "arrested" angle also really gets on my nerves for the same reasons above. Be realistic or unrealistic, but stay consistent at least.

I have a lot of sympathy for the "is the cameraman there?"
EVERY fictional medium has unrealistic elements. And pro-wrestling is a fictional story. And it's really, really difficult to tell any fictional story if the characters have to know everything the audience knows. I mean, even in Shakesphere characters do asides to the audience.

I think when they are in front of a live audience (i.e. in the arena or at WWF New York) "real world rules" should apply. After all, the wrestlers talk into the camera (and might even take out a cameraman) so we know they're there. But in skits, I think you have to give them creative license to have the "hidden camera" and the "audience can watch stuff that the wrestler's can't."

There's a total lack of consistency there, too. Most of the time wrestlers are oblivious to what's going on on the monitor, but every once in a while you'll get something like last week when Fink tried to warn the McMahon's that Trip knew about the ruse. Again, do whatever you want, just keep it consistent.

Yes it is just wrestling.

And it's also a form of entertainment where suspension of disbelief is a must. But even I can only do that so much. The point was Austin was arrested by the off duty cops and then the nWo attempting to kill someone in the same show just strains that suspension a little too much. Were those only heel security guards? I'm willing to give in to plot holes when it's a face/heel turn, because in that instance, it's hard not to have them. But this is a major plot hole, in my opinion, and I hate that in ANYTHING I read, watch, etc.

Will I stop watching? Probably not. But I feel it could be better. Especially when I have seen better from the WWF in the past.

And please, don't tell me "Oh if you don't like it don't watch you're not a true wrestling fan". If I wasn't a true fan, I wouldn't care enough to complain about it.

I care more about consistency and logic as it relates to actual wrestling matches than I do about what goes on in skits. I can't really explain it, because I feel like I'm kind of a stickler about those kinds of things most of the time, but when it comes to what happens outside the ring, I don't really care all that much. If it amuses me, I consider it a bonus, but I guess I think of it as packaging that hopefully will work to promote the matches.

Sometimes there are storylines I think are illogical or badly put together [like mixing up divergent angles and having the less important one have more impact at the expense of the other] but most of the time I don't really care.

The only thing that really bothered me about last night's RAW was that there was so little wrestling on the card, due to a focus on a single event that wasn't really interesting. I know wrestling isn't really as important as the entertainment aspect, and I can handle that in most cases when there are a lot of different skits and things going on, but when it's just going back to the stupid ambulance over and over again it makes for boring television.

I am still upset with you for breaking your promise of getting Stephanie off television after the failure of the WCW/ECW invasion

For every complaint like this, there is probably 101 more asking when she is going to be in playboy or complimenting her rack.

I just don't see your letter landing on Vince's desk.

Why is it so hard to imagine that the security could be corrupt?

"...compliments of Mr. McMahon: private security." - Kurt Angle, courtesy of CRZ's RAW recap.

This is why Austin getting dragged off in handcuffs while the NWO get off scott free for attempted vehicular homicide doesnt bother me: Vince paid for the security, who just happened to be off duty cops.

I imagine most of them are written something like...

stef hez gr8 boobz!!!!!11 y is she no playboy????/

I don't expect anyone important to read the letter. I consider myself lucky if anyone reads the letter. I'm trying to encourage people to write in if there's something they really don't like about the WWF, and there would seem to be a lot of those people online. If they get enough suggestions blah blah blah...

The way I see it is, although some things could be better, on the other side of the coin things could be alot worse.

I agree, but that's no reason to ignore things that could be improved. If I didn't think the program was worth watching, I wouldn't watch it.
