"The deal between the Pacers and Bulls is official. Rose, along with Travis Best and Norm Richardson, goes to the Bulls, in exchange for Ron Artest, Ron Mercer, Brad Miller, and Kevin Ollie." -rotowire

Interesting to say the least. Personally, I think this helps the Pacers out a lot. Here is what their starting line up will look like:

Brad Miller "the Shaq Killer" (C)
Jermaine O'neal (PF)
Ron Artest (SF)
Reggie Miller (SG)
Jamaal Tinsley (PG)

Not too shabby. The big winner in all of this is O'neal, as now he will match up against the small power forwards in the east.

Jalen Rose and to a lesser extent Travis best will also benefit from this trade. Jalen will be the #1 option with the Bulls and Best will most likely be starting point guard.

The Bulls will still suck hard, but at least they have a star now.

Any thoughts?

Do the Bulls even know what they are doing? It wouldn't surprise me if they traded the high schoolers they have before they become a Garnett, Bryant, or McGrady. I thought Artest was turning into a solid player. I don't think Rose will be much better as a Bull than Mercer was. There just isn't enough talent to help him.

I think its obvious those folks in Chicago don't know what they are doing.... Just look at Elton Brand.

But to their credit, they kept Eddie Robinson, Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, Eddie Curry, AJ Guyton and Marcus Fizer. I'm thinking a couple of these guys will rise to the top (Robinson, Fizer, Chandler, and maybe Crawford - if he can get healthy).

The problem the Bulls will now face is the lack of quality big men in their line up. looks to me like the only "centers" they have left are a bunch of Eastern European stiffs.

Oh, i also noticed that the Bulls still have Oakley, sad thing is, I really think he can still help the team. It'll definitely be interesting to watch and see what happens with both teams, but I now expect the Pacers to finish in the top 4 in the east.

Can't begin to tell you how this trade pissed off one of my then-co-workers back in Indianapolis. "They got rid of everyone I know, except Reggie!"

If only we'd been able to keep Brad Miller longer... if only we'd gotten rid of Ron Artest sooner...

...if only, if only.

Kinda sounds like what the Clippers were doing a few years ago.
