My only beef is with the difficulty level. I ramped it up to 10, and the only difference is that I can't win a test of strength. The characters still tap 75% of the time when I use my submission special.

If you haven't played it, you've gotta try to get your hands on Fire Pro D for Dreamcast. Dreamcast is only $50 so it's not too much of a problem to get this...
If you think Fire Pro on GBA is good, FPD is a masterpiece. I love the way you can download new wrestlers and moves... | ironcladlou

I still am gonna have to go with No Mercy. Fire Pro gets knocked down a few pegs by the fact that No Mercy/WM2k have more intuative controls (I still have yet to pull off a corner grapple in FPWa) and the animations are better in No Mercy, i.e., the walking on the apron sideways thing. Of course, I'm judging the entire series on the GBA version. Did FPWD ever have an English version? As a Dreamcast owner, I need a great wrestling title. Yukes took a shit on my head and called it "Royal Rumble". Does FPWD use hi-res sprites (VGA box hi-res)? Where do you download the new moves from? Is the control better than the GBA version?

| #5 Posted on 4.1.02 1521.12 Reposted on: 4.1.09 1523.46 | Well, the Dreamcast version is about twelve dozen times better than the GBA version. The graphics and animation are much better. When you play it with a VGA box the wrestlers and ring are definately high res, but the audience turns into a big puddle of crap...
The controls are much easier on Dreamcast because there's a face button for each level of attack and one for run, the trigger breathes for you, and each direction on the d-pad gives you a different taunt.
There never was a english translation for it, but you can download an updated roster, all the names corrected into english, translations for everything, and dozens of new moves from www.gswf.org I think it's down right now, but it should be back up within a day or two. You can get the game from most import sites and you can play it on any unmodified Dreamcast with either a boot disk or a GameShark.
Downloading moves and wrestlers is great. Spike releases a new move every week. I think there's 30 or so out right now. They save on your memory card and you can have as many memory cards installed as you want. I've got 2 in the first controller and 1 in the second. Japanese players vote on the moves that are going to get released so you might get some dumb moves. The Worm was one of the first downloadable moves for example, but they later made up for that with a Shining Wizard, Last Ride, and Twist of Fate...
The only bad thing about the Dreamcast version is instead of Audience Mode they have Victory Road. It's pretty much the same thing, except the audience doesn't rate you or care how you wrestle at all. So one player can get boring if you don't enjoy the pure thrill of playing the game like FirePro fans do...

I think one of his moves, the Karelin Lift, is in No Mercy, but it's under a different name which I can't remember since I don't play that game as much anymore.
If memory serves, he did a match in one of the shootish Japanese feds a few years back. Checking his Somewhat translated official site here, he fought against Akira Maeda in RINGS once.

I need a walkthrough on Giant Gram 2000 as well, actually.

| #15 Posted on 8.1.02 1428.37 Reposted on: 8.1.09 1458.34 | It's aaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll in the timing. The whole Fire Pro series is all about timing. You've gotta hit the direction and button of the move you want to do exactly when you hear the SMACK of the two wrestlers grappling. Once you get the hang of it it couldn't be simpler.
Speaking of FirePro games, an interview with a BAM Entertainment employee revealed that BAM intends on translating and releasing Fire Pro A Final for GBA and Fire Pro G2 for Playstation 2 in America! WOO!
No information is known about FPG2 for PS2 right now, but I really hope it has the recostume feature that the Dreamcast version had so I don't have to deal with the messed up appearances Spike and BAM have to give the American wrestlers to avoid lawsuits...
