| #1 Posted on 10.9.03 1455.21 Reposted on: 10.9.10 1455.27 | The Canucks have signed Magnus Arvedson to a one year/$1.5 M contract. An excellent signing for the 'Nucks, IMO. The team has never had a problem scoring goals but has been weak on team defence, especially from the forwards. Arvedson's addition will go some way to addressing that deficiency. Also, he'll likely chip in 15-20 goals, thus replacing Klatt's scoring, though not his grit and leadership abilities.
Despite the abuse Brian Burke takes in the Vancouver media, this seems to be another in a long line of small deals that will help the club in the long term. Moreover, Burke got his new player at a discount, $150,000 less than he made last year.

Well if you must know...the Sens decided NOT to resign him. It's because we DON'T need him anymore.
They had the money, but they have many many younger/faster players willing to play that position.

Arvy and Alfie are almost like the Sedin twins, always hanging out together, etc. (I would know, since they both showed up at a golf course I used to work at a few years back.)
Not that this bugs me too much, since Alfie is nowhere near Marian Hossa's level these days. | BigVitoMark
