Actually, I've only played SC II on the GC. I ended up using a different button approach - came at it from above instead of from underneath. It's not so good for thumb control of the buttons, but for the throws, etc. I was using two fingers already anyway. It's not that bad for SC.

I love reason number seven. "The Gamecube's better because we made it SHINY! SHINY GOOD! YAY!"

I don't personally hate the 'Cube controller THAT much, but I have to say that the design has major flaws... the differently-sized and oddly-placed buttons are pretty irritating to get used to, even more so than the N64's pointlessly small "camera" buttons. The one thing on a console that shouldn't have a big learning curve is the controller.

Never, eh eeeh eeeever! Down the PS2. The PS2 has sold triple that of X-Box and QUAD-druple that of Gamecube.

I think the big issue with the 'Cube controller is that it seems specifically designed for Nintendo's first-party games. It works great with your Zeldas and your Metroids, but the first time you try to play anything else with it, it drives you nuts. I almost threw the thing out the window trying to play Def Jam Vendetta.

As to the original topic, I think Nintendo's quite happy being in third place. And I don't think it's as dire a situation as most people want to make it out to be. The first party games will continue to bring people in, and if their game quality standards are half as strict as they were during the 80's, then you know you're rarely going to get a bad game on your 'Cube. And I'll take Nintendo's exclusives over PS2's anyday. Especially now that Grand Theft Auto is making it's way to XBox.

Most people have more than one console these days anyway, and one of them is likely to be a GameCube. When I got my free system through my ISP a few months ago, I never even debated whether I was getting a PS2 or a 'Cube. It was 'Cube all the way.

For the record, I've had no problems playing SCII with my GameCube controller ... but maybe that's just me

I manily stay to the wrestling board but I've got to add something to this topic because I've been Nintendo thru and thru since the monthly ten page magazines before Nintendo magazine started. ANYWAYS...I'm not going to type long drawn out comparsions but I will note from some preivous comments that Nintendo has fallen drastically. They were the top. I won't complain to much about them being "Kiddy" image due to the fact I've grown up with them and they did release MK2 with blood. Yet if some things don't change and they don't do it soon I think there going to fall behind in the gaming industry as some people agree in this thread.

I concur. I just rented that the other day... what a game.

The controller does have definite drawbacks, though. I borrowed "Agent Under Fire" from a friend of mine, and was just too frustrated to play it much. The key to any FPS is strafing, and the C-stick sucks for that. Goldeneye played much, much better on the 64 controller. The trigger was more intuitive, and the C buttons were easier. With the stick, it's too easy to hit the wrong button. I want to strafe left, but I wind up strafing left and staring at the floor.

I think a main problem with the pad is the D-pad. Tooooo Small. I exclusively use the D-pad for sports games and the such, even tho the analogue stick offers better flexability, and my fingers just can operate the thing. The L and R trigger are turd as digital buttons too, you have to put to much force on them to click them, and even if the action was performed on a slight press, you still think it needs a more definitive confirmation of press.
