Dammit. I knew that but was solely focused on this year.

I just don't like that as it pertains to the Pac-10. Who would you kick out to make a 9-team conference? Every team in the conference has their geographic rival in the Pac-10, so no one would agree to kick out WSU or OSU, I wouldn't think. I also don't know who they would add. I guess logically it would be Colorado and Colorado State, but then who would the Big 12 get to replace the Buffaloes? They wouldn't want BYU and Utah because the Pac-10 said they only want "major research universities" as members (and I believe that eliminates BYU).

I suppose anything's possible, of course. I never thought I'd be seeing Miami and Va Tech in the ACC.

Since you were solely focuses on this year I will point out that the other part of that point, Miami vs. Florida doesn't happen every year anyway. I couldn't really think of any teams that had more than one big rival game other than maybe Notre Dame, and I don't really care about adjusting my whole idea just for them. You do have a point about the upsets though. Although even if there wasn't a Maryland-Northern Illinois upset there still could've just as easily been Maryland getting upset by someone in their own conference. But for the most part I do like teams playing non-conference games. That's why I like the Bowl games so much, because of the different matchups. For example, Florida and Michigan have had football programs for some time now and they just faced each other for the first time last year. I just wish there was some rule against playing teams like McNeese State (I'm talking to you Kansas State)

I can't find anything to back this up, but I'm POSITIVE that Florida-Miami is going to be an annual thing, and that Miami, Florida, and FSU play for a trophy (the Governor's trophy?).

Well I'm almost positive someone said this past weekend that they don't play after this year again until 2008 but after that they might be playing annually but last I heard Miami wanted to make it annual and Florida didn't. I hope that it is annual though, even if my Gators have been owned by them the last three times they've played. And according to NCAA Football 2004 the Florida-Florida State game is for the Governor's Cup. The Miami-Florida game is for the Seminole War Canoe and the Miami-Florida State game has no name or trophy it just says "rivalry game". I never really paid attention to what trophies they won or what the games were called until they were used in the NCAA games (Well, except for the Iron Bowl, because when you're born in Alabama you're taught that at birth.) so I'm not sure how accurate it is.
