The Undertaker *is* pretty damned old (older than Foley, and can move & work worse than he could) and lazy (no-selling everything) and old (whoops, think I already covered it). I say, have him turn face and have a Title vs. Career Match at SummerSlam or something and have Benoit or Jericho or Angle get rid of him once and for all! He's there for our entertainment. Lots of people are entertained by him. He's not chasing the World Title, nor is he holding down the pushes of other wrestlers. If Vince had someone in mind for UT to put over, UT would do it, OR then UT could kiss his ass goodbye.
Undertaker can stay as long as Vince feels he's contributing to the company. If that means his role is simply to maintain control in the locker room, or be the World Champion, he's gonna do what he's told. | Pheadfred

Look at the first post in the thread. Besides, those two jobs hardly boost Maven's credibility or hurt Taker's image. I like Taker, and I never jumped on the "RETIRE!" bandwagon.

Maybe they can rotate rest shifts on top of the ring steps like UT did during his match against Rock. That'll be awesome!!!
And maybe they can put him in the ring with some more young talent like RVD and he can break their backs over a casket!! To paraphrase your hero, Dennis Leary, he's an asshole.

I'll admit when the Undertaker was a face and had nothing to do I was a bit down on him, but now he has a PURPOSE. He is out to get Flair, and I don't know about you but The Dirtiest Player in the Game vs The American Badass in what will probably be a street fight gets me excited. I've been on a bit of and anti PPV tirad lately, but if this was on a filler PPV I would buy it in a heartbeat. Plus Taker has looked better in the ring lately than he has in a long time.
Hell, I was stoked when he was teaming with Jericho for awhile. The cowardly heel using the baddest man in the WWF=awsome. Taker isn't even clogging up the upper card, he's making the upper mid card EXCITING and the mid card needs it. I find it very hard to bash Taker these days, and for those that are are either grasping at straws or will never like him no matter what he does. | Madame Manga

Amen, brother. These are good times for the Taker fans. Six months ago, a thread with a title like this would have been mostly cheap shots and denunciations of biker gimmicks. I could have summarized nearly all the posts without reading them. Funny how the praise is much more various and individual than the spitwads.

| #30 Posted on 20.2.02 0927.55 Reposted on: 20.2.09 0929.08 | I think, since he turned evil again, the Undertaker's character has been a lot more fun. The American Badass was just a watered-down Austin without any of the interesting things that make Austin fun to watch. What he's doing now is more like that period he had with Big Show, where he's altered his interview style and tapped into something a lot more entertaining. I still don't like his matches, but he's bringing something to the table again unlike he was this time last year or throughout the summer when he was killing Page and Booker in the most boring manner possible.
I figure Just Arn and, if they really need to push it, David Flair, will be where he goes to get Flair to agree to the match. | EastCoastAvenger

First of all, Undertaker doesn't suck. If you personally don't like watching him, change the channel (like I do during Triple H segments - C-span rules this time of night!), make a sammich, take a dump, do something other than whining to me and everyone else here about how much he "sucks!

I pointed out some good characteristics of the current Undertaker and also some inconsistencies in the IWC's general attitude towards different wrestlers and you resort to weak sarcasm and name calling. I think there's absolutely no doubt as to who the REAL asshole is here! Like I said before, Whatever. If you like him, like him, If you don't, don't. He's one of the few heels they have that doesn't whine and cheat in every single match, and legitimately seems like a threat to the faces, instead of some "sneaky heel" that doesn't stand a chance when he gets in the ring with the top faces. He can still work a good match every so often (HHH/UT last year was one of my favorite matches of the year), and there's no reason to quit while you are still a) Getting a strong reaction and b) Able to work a decent match.
As far as Wrestlemania with Flair goes, I have no idea what they are going to do. Personally, I think it makes absolutely no sense to put Flair over since he's not an active wrestler....but I wouldn't be surprised if they do have Flair win just because Vince has some weird hangup with a guy never being beaten at Wrestlemania before they retire. Frankly, if any guy deserves to never be beaten at 'mania, it's UT.
I have a feeling we'll see UT take on the nWo before the year is out, possibly even back in the zombie gimmick. It would be a cool way to close out his career, if that's where he's heading.

Because that's what I'm feeling when I say I don't want to watch the Undertaker. There are things I enjoy and things I don't in the WWF. One of those things I don't is watching the Undertaker. Just as the Bucs shooting Brad Johnson out of one of those cannons at Raymond James Stadium would help make the Bucs a better, more enjoyable team to watch, so would the downgrading of the UT to a less frequent, less high-placed character. Admittedly there's no objective measure of this like there could be of the Bucs with or without Johnson, but rather just a subjective judgment based on my own opinion. But then there's not much else to work with here is there? | shea

But even worse, at that time he was standing in the way of a lot of young talent. And whenever he appeared on my TV screen, I surfed to football or whatever. Back then, brothers, I too muttered "Retire, you slob!"
But things are different now.
All those bad habits are gone, or at least in remission. Good workrate, over as a heel, enjoying himself (and it shows), shares with others ... all in all, UT's still got it, and he's a nice change of pace from the catchphrase posse.
Here's an angle I'm sure Vince can turn into innocuous cartoon: Taker goes up against the nWo, Hogan&Co. try an ambush beatdown, but something goes horribly wrong and they end up actually killing him!
Then, of course, he comes back as the Dead Man. | dMp
