Mike Weir always wins when coming from behind, which is not why I'm pulling my hair out like I should about his semi-collapse today. After all, it's not like he blew it like Phil Mickelson or anything....now THAT was a collapse.

Looks like we're finally going to get a US Open, too; Oak Hill is playing like a beast. Not going to be too many, if any, guys under par this week, maybe not even the winner.

Leader after two rounds is Shaun 'The Heartbreak Kid' Micheel, but if he wins, I'll eat my Ben Curtis memorial hat.

I was about to say "Would you like a beer to wash that hat down with" but it seems like Shawn "The Heartbreak Kid" Micheel (love the name)kind of collapsed in the 52-54th holes. That said, I hope Easy E makes a charge and takes the whole thing. That leaderboard is practically invisible. The top 15. Weir, Els, and Vijay? Where are the names?

Oops. There's Howell and the obligatory old guy, Fred Funk.

Munch munch munch....mmm, goes down smooth.

That was a SICK shot that Micheel made on 18...though it was going in for sure. Speaking of sick, Mike Weir with five bogies on the first five holes? Good lord. A tie for seventh might be enough to get him a nod in the player of the year race, but it'll be close...he probably has to win once more before the year is out to clinch it.

Try some of JR's BBQ sauce with that hat, my man.

Seriously, though...how good was that shot on 18? Under that kind of pressure? Damn fine golf.

About Micheel's shot, I thought that it had landed in the junk short of the green because of the glare, but when I realized that it was to tap-in range, I whooped it up because that was easily one of the 3 best pressure shots I've ever seen (Payne Stewart's putting on the last 3 holes of the 1999 U.S. Open and Brian Watts' ridiculous bunker shot from the British Open of 1999 (I think). Micheel's shot was just so sick on so many levels I still get chills visualizing it.

Most of us only make shots like that in our dreams - it was "Tin Cup"-like in it's improbability....hats off

I yelled so loudly when he made that shot that Mrs. DrOp thought I was watching a pre-season football game.

The amount of little things that have to go right for him to hit a shot like that just reinforce how difficult golf really is.

Micheel showed some incredible resolve on Sunday. Kudos.

So if you had Weir, Furyk, Curtis and Micheel picked to win the Slams this year, my hat is off to you. What an odd year.

Highlight of the PGA was clearly some guy yelling 'You're my boy, Blue!' right after one of Tiger's drives.

I believe that's the event that's moving to Wisconsin next year. Wait 'till you see the course down in Kohler, WI (next to Sheboygan...just a fun word to say. Sheboygan!)

What's this course like, Thrill? Whistling Straits, I believe it's called? Never heard a thing about it.

My sports director, an avid golfer, loooooves it. Here's info from the PGA...and from a Kohler, WI tourism website. Or for more options, try this Google search.

The course is quite simply world-class. Of course, that's coming from a guy whose best golf experience ever was perfectly videotaping a guy shoot a hole-in-1 on a 159-yard par 3 hole in Seymour, WI earlier this year. Wow.
