IMO, the Goo Goo Dolls are on their way to being one of the most consistantly good bands... and to anyone who says all their songs sound alike, you've never heard an album by theirs... "A Boy Named Goo" is my favorite album of the 90s... and has a really varied sound. | DarkRenegade

But I am against Jamiroquai, Skinny Puppy (of course, I am an industrial fangirl, but that Joy Electric I might have to skip), Goo Goo Dolls, and The Doors being on that list. The rest I'm either neutral towards, haven't heard enough of their stuff, or just haven't heard of them.

Their stuff was fresh at first but Staind's "relationship breakup and drug songs" and Limp's "Rock/Rap fusion" is terrible anymore. Also it dosent help that both bands have lent music for wrestling pay-per-views!!They suck. | Firecracker

Whoa, just because you're not a big fan of rock music doesn't mean that all of those bands suck. The thing about lists like these dealing with music is that they're all extremely subjective; as someone said earlier, just because you don't like a certain band or type of music doesn't mean that it totally blows. I personally like bands like Disturbed, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, and what seems to be a big magnet of hatred, Creed. Just because you don't like the band doesn't mean that it's talentless and the "worst of all time." | drjayphd

There's one band in that list that has NOTHING to do with the others: Slayer. Slayer was hardly "hair metal". They were one of the best 80's thrash bands, and their song "Angel of Death" could perhaps be considered the epitome of what thrash should be.
So not only are they not "hair metal", they definitely don't belong on "worst 50 bands of all-time" list. But hey, if you're not a fan of 80's thrash, I guess all the names run together. *shrug* | Whitebacon

Funny thing is, all those bands with probably the exeption of Krokus, actually had some damn fine musicians, they were just playing pop metal (except slayer). So much bashing without realising the skill some of those guys do posess. | Broncolanche

| #52 Posted on 11.9.03 2222.10 Reposted on: 11.9.10 2224.38 | Let's see...from the Blender list, that OFB placed (mad propz, bro!) I have the following comments:
* 3. Michael Bolton Should have been number one
* 4. Kenny G Should have been number two
* 5. Starship I don't like seeing them up here. I loved their music, and their transition from 70s acid rock to 80s pop rock was different, at best. I own their Greatest Hits CD and it gets regular play on my system.
* 8. Vanilla Ice Should be higher. TO THE EXTREME is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, I own it.
* 10. Air Supply Another favorite of mine. What's wrong with 70s pop? It's decent stuff!
* 19. Dan Fogelberg One of the more romatic singers out there. I like his stuff.
* 22. Primus No props for being the only band who have been on both the Beavis and Butthead CD and on South Park, too? That's not nice!
* 26. Celine Dion EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
* 28. Crash Test Dummies I loved them as a kid, but not anymore.
* 30. Richard Marx "RIGHT HERE WAITING" was a huge hit when I was 12 years old. That was 14 years ago. Now, I change the station when it plays.
* 36. 98 Degrees DEATH TO BOY BANDS!
* 38. Nelson A guilty pleasure of mine from my childhood.
* 40. Blind Melon Their single claim to fame was the bee girl in that video.
* 41. Whitesnake That's not fair...their song HERE I GO AGAIN ON MY OWN is one of the best ever.
* 48. Master P What about the No Limit Army?
I'd like to know where these results came from. I mean, where's the N*sync? Where's the NKOTB? Where's Blondie? Where's everyone else that sucked over the past 20 odd years? | jfkfc

Originally posted by Toast Jr And also, Oingo Boingo?!?! Danny Elfman could shit ona piece of paper, wipe it all over a keyboard and it would still be fucking brilliant. The man is a musical genius! I dare anyone to listen to "Dead Man's Party" and not dance. Double dog dare you in fact.
Oingo Boingo, to me, is the greatest band ever, furthering the fact that I could shit on a piece of paper, title it, and sell it as a worthier magazine than Blender. Any list on it for worst bands that doesn't include the idiots responsible for the disaster "We like the cars, the kind that go boom" has no business existing.
"Dead Man's Party", while terrific, (again my opinion) barely holds a candle to "Good For Your Soul". | A-MOL

Are you seriously on crack or something? Blondie on a worst bands list? One of the best, most diverse musical forces from the punk scene in new york (although they werent PUNK enough for some tastes) to ever make an album. | Rudoublesedoublel

| #56 Posted on 18.9.03 1108.32 Reposted on: 18.9.10 1109.36 | The 80's metal bands were the prime of my formative music years, but many did suck. While I LOVED Dokken ("Alone Again" was one of the original power ballads) and also still enjoy Slayer, I would have to agree that Krokus was weak. Loudness also sucked pretty actively. Kingdom Come wasn't awesome, but they had one decent song ("What Love Can Be"). Stryper was fairly awful. The Vinny Vincent Invasion wasn't the greatest band ever. Keel was OK, but far from great. EZO wasn't great, but I had one of their albums. I liked Diamond Rexx, but they sucked too. Don't forget Britny Fox either. Or Helix!
Bottom line, a list like this is fun, because I've thought of a lot of bands that I haven't given a thought to in 15 years. The reality is, they had at least enough talent (or luck) to release at least one album.
But, out of curiosity, don't Primus fans chant (or at least used to chant) "Primus Sucks" at shows? (Sort of in the way that fans did chant "Angle Sucks"?) | Doc_whiskey

| #57 Posted on 19.9.03 0740.58 Reposted on: 19.9.10 0742.06 | | It seems they either went with the stereotypical hated bands (Bolten, Kenny G), easy targets for people of today (Vanilla), random 80's bands (Oingo), bands they know will piss people off (Doors), or music acts they dont like/understand (Primus). Subjective lists by a bunch of Maxim wannabes shouldnt piss you off that much. Also, for a topic like this no matter what they could have said, there will always be someone out there who liked that band and who would be offended by their presence on a worst band list. Just read the list, get a good chuckle out of their stupidity, and move on. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
