Kinda strange they are targeting people who play too many video games in a country where prostitution and orphans are rampant. Do you guys think that MMORPGs really pose a threat that a country would close down internet cafe's at certain hours, and try to limit game playing?! Why is Thailand focused on THIS problem?!

Enough gamers in Asia have died just sitting in front of the computer playing to the point of passing. Thailand just wants to protect their teens from keeling over from all night RPG benders and stay out of the news.

Another note, when I was living in Hong Kong eariler this year, I frequented a online gaming place where a teen had died after playing for several hours straight. The workers there were required by management to patrol the place with heavy frequency to avoid another incident, checking on everyone, especially those who would stay up overnight.

It's an addiction, and this is just another remedy for the symptoms.

I'm assuming they serve coffee and Diet Coke at those Internet cafes too? That wouldn't help the staying up

so which countries have "no computer gaming" laws now?

The only one that I remember having a law like that was Greece. Is that still the case?

That law was only made to try and outlaw online gambling, but was too broadly worded. I think it was being appealed the last time I read about it.
