Not much in the way of eye candy last night on Smackdown, but I have to tell you that Steph really has plumped a bit since the last match she was in (Vs Y2J and HHH on 3/26/02). But it's still not fat, so lay off on that. Zach is something all right and he is very handsome too, but there's something kind of scary seeing a one legged man doing a moonsault. Not too much to comment on from my end, except that Vince's Mr. America segment last night really made me shake my head when I thought of all the time they spent on him, to have it end so anticlimactically. I liked Angle and Lesnar's bits a lot as well as Nidia and Noble. I said it once and I'll say it again, Jamie Noble is one of the best kissers in WWE period! There's my two cents, let's hear yours...

P.S. Happy Fourth to all my peeps.

Not a huge amount of eye-candy per se, but the slashy bits just keep getting better & better! Good show -- I really enjoyed it.

Vince in casual wear is odd enough. But orange plaid?!? (There's a Vitamin C joke in there, but I'll just move on.)

See, Vince doesn't need to cede cruiserweight wrestling to NWA -- he's got plenty of great talent! (Although, if he could lure away Chris Sabin, that'd be even better.) Nunzio & Rey were great. We know Rey is excellent, but I tend to forget that Nunzio is a good solo wrestler too. Setting up the APA aginst the big FBI boys is a good plan. They're trying to set something interesting up with Kidman, which is thoughtful. And I still love it that Tazz unapologetically keeps saying Johnny "Stromboli".

Uhhh? Ultimo Dragon debut last week, & no sign of him this week? Would that be called "building a fan base"?

I absolutely adored the Kurt/Brock segments! I'm guessing there's much whining about undermining the Unstoppable Brock personna (Dunno, haven't been over to the main board yet.), but I love that they're making him personable; using Kurt to pass on his goofy side is brilliant. ("Oh, yeah, like you can do 300 pushups." Much less 301.) This should be a great "soft" build for the PPV.

We come back from commercial, & Mistress Shaniqua has her boys positioned up against the ropes. Mrrrrow! And the after-match eye contact between her & Chris Benoit? Chris, you kinky little devil! Rhyno hustling him off -- "Chris, step away from the scary dominatrix woman. Chris?" Have we actually seen the "Ball & Gag" yet? Wonder who's going to volunteer to take that? Oh, by the way, good match! :-)

A "genuine imitation mock mink coat". You gotta love Nidia.

Orlando is looking promising as a pet project for Taker. Taker explaining to Orlando that he'd be getting the crap beaten out of him ("paying dues"), so AlberTrain thoughtfully obliges. Orlando looked good though, sells great, & can slip in a bit of convincing offence. I'm good with it.

Shelton/Charlie vs Eddie/Tajiri was wonderful. I don't care if Tazz doesn't like Cole calling it "fun" (preferring "exciting") -- I thought it was great fun! (This is the kind of match that has so much good stuff that it's hard to pick out just a few highlights.) Although Tazz's assessment that "You could just buff the sweat off [the lowrider's hood]" was pretty true -- Eddie did more automotive damage than Tajiri did. Next up, Eddie versus Tajiri.

Wrestlemania Recall featured Phoenix local boy Alice Cooper. It's just not right to run into Alice at the gas station, pumping his own gas. (He had on the same radio station I did though.)

The Mr America resolution was abrupt, but at least we'd achieved critical mass on the Zach plotline. (And now that Mr. America is gone, I can stop having Frank Zappa flashbacks everytime somebody says his name. Sorry, insufferably obscure music reference.) I was done with the tease on that, & was ready for them to get on with giving Zach the contract -- that worked out well. "Zach Gowan is an asshole?" Vince does know how to leverage a crowd.

Vince's announcements that 1) Vengance main event would be Angle/Lesnar/BigShow, & 2) Steph/Zach's match with BigShow tonight would be no-DQ, totally telegraphed how the Steph/Zach/BS match was going to go, but I think that was deliberate & a good thing. Knowing that the big dogs would be out to save the non-wrestler-chick & the rookie-baby makes the whole thing fun rather than unseemly. This was the first I'd seen Zach wrestle, & he really can do some stuff.

I thought it was a really well put together show, tied up some stuff, started some new stuff, had a bunch of good wrestling -- I was a happy girl.

Saturday night update: I was quite happy with Sean O'Haire on Velocity tonight. I thought it was much more interesting than the typical squash. (You know, Funaki & Spike are absolutely top-level squashees. It's amazing the difference that makes. No -- really!) Sean's working on a cool-cruel, collected persona, he "sells his own offence" well, but at the same time, he sold pretty nice for some of Funaki's offence. All that plus purple trunks & hair falling down. Made my TV-watching evening!
