Since the tournaments just started and will have the finals in a few weeks at Vengeance, I think there's a wider range of predictions to choose from. Who do you think will win? And where the hell are the brackets by? And is this a 32 man tournament or a 16 man one?
Chris Benoit-I don't expect Benoit to come out on top for this tournament. Benoit vs. Rhyno would've been a good finals match, but it was made a first round instead. If the dissent between Benoit and Rhyno continues, perhaps Rhyno will cause the Crippler's elimination from the tournament to further their feud? Since Benoit's already held the Intercontinental title 4 times, both WWE brand tag time titles, and the US and world titles in WCW, it seems going for the WWE title should be the next logical step.
Matt Hardy-Matt's done pretty much everything he could've with the cruiserweight title, so its time for him to move up before he becomes a world champion (well, maybe in a few years? ). Hardy defeated Rikishi in a first round match for the tournament, and I expect he'll at least get a good showing in it much like the way he lasted nearly 30 minutes in the Royal Rumble this year. Hardy's my darkhorse to win the tournament.
John Cena-If Cena competes in this tournament I think he will most likely win it. Booking really seems to have been getting behind him in recent months despite a lacklustre feud with Brock Lesnar, and this could be his first run with a title before he moves onto the WWE championship again.
Sean O'Haire-I think O'Haire will get the US title somewhere down the line, but not here. Another thing about O'Haire, what happened to his rational sinner gimmick that WWE booking was building him up with before his return?
Eddie Guerrero-Eddy is doing well in the tag team division with Tajiri, and I don't know what will happen when Chavo comes back. It seems Eddy will be doing tag team for a while.
Rey Mysterio Jr.-Rey just won the cruiserweight title and it looks like he will be sticking with that for a while and feud with Ultimo Dragon or Kidman. Hopefully Mysterio will stay in one piece long enough to eventually compete for the US title.
A-Train-well he did have the IC title shortly at one point.
The Undertaker-I don't know if the Taker will be in the tournament, but how much longer is he going to demolish the FBI?

I have to agree with both of you so far. Benoit is going to be tied up with Rhyno, and that can't be the finals since they already wrestled. O'Haire and Eddy are tied up with each other so that just leaves Cena and Matt Hardy. And if Cena is turning face then you can put them against each other in the finals.
Also, WWE never does long tournaments anymore, I'm guessing it's only 8 man tournament.

O'Haire and Eddie's feud could be incorporated into the mix. They fight in the first round, and O'Haire wins through interference. O'Hair then loses to, say, Cena in the next round because Eddie interferes as payback.

Oh crap! 411 (via the Torch) is saying there's a new frontrunner for the U.S. title.
BILLY F'N GUNN!
The original idea to bring the US Title back to Smackdown was for Chris Benoit to get the belt. But similar to the original IC Title plan to give the belt to Booker T, WWE might instead give the title to Billy Gunn. Gunn is a favorite of Vince McMahon, and is said to be given another shot. Gunn is set to feud with Matt Hardy, and it seems like they will meet in the finals of the tournament.
This can't result in anything good unless it leads to a long Matt Hardy title reign. Why won't anybody take a hint with Billy Gunn?

Hey, Billy Gunn did the "Gay Cowboy" gimmick for years even before the Chuck and Billy thing was a glimmer in McMahon's eye. If nothing else, Billy's proven he's a company man, and McMahon simply wants to reward that.
Of course, I'm sure he could reward him by making him the #1 main eventer on Velocity or something...

Billy is more gay when he portrays a straight character then when he was supposed to be gay. I call it Shawn Michaels Syndrome.
I'm glad Billy was so loyal but did Billy Gunn really have many options in the mid 90's? When Bischoff was really going after talent in 96/97, he was Rockabilly. And by the time his contract was up when he was part of NAO/DX, WCW was probably on its death bed anyways.
