Sounds like an appropriate nickname, in my opinion.

And I thought Rikishi dancing was bad enough. Now I'm practically begging him to get back with Scotty 2 Hotty so we can get rid of Albert.

Remember Albert's reign as Intercontinental Champion? ...I still shudder thinking about it.

So would you prefer that Albert be dumped altogether? I personally don't like him as the "happy" partner of Scotty, and feel he could have gotten over (and stil might) as a big mean guy, maybe doing someone's dirty work.

Of course, I also had a dream last night that the NWO's return was destroyed when La Parka came in and chaired them all to hell, then announced himself (via sign) to be the father of Steph's baby, so make of my sanity what you will...:)

Albert was IC champion?? When did that happen? It must have been a pretty short reing. I think Albert at his best when he was X-Factor's enforcer type guy. Wrestling on occasion but mostly just around to take care of business.

It happened, and obviously went over so well that it's been forgotten.

Albert was IC champion?? When did that happen?

For about 5 weeks from June - July 2001.

Alot of people in the EZBoard community at the time defended him like crazy, stating this was a good thing. I remember being shocked at the amount of support he was getting.

I'm usually all for new people getting elevated, but I just can't find anything redeeming in Albert.

There were some very promising Albert / Kane matchups. I still think Albert has potential.

albert was a killer after heyman first came in. i never took him as "big man" until he started working with kane. they put on some of the best "big" matches in recent memory.

now, was it him or bull buchanan who the undertaker was so high on?

I beleive that was Albert that Taker liked. Not liked enough to put him over in one of Albert's several IC Title defenses against the dead man, mind you. But Taker likes him.

Albert was best as an X-Factor enforcer type. The gay happy go lucky guy just does not fit him. I didn't have a problem with him holding the IC belt. I did have a problem with him having no storyline or personality to build on while holding the IC belt.

Albert, with the bald head and the piercings, and just the sheer size of him, has got to be a bad ass body guard type heel. He's got the perfect look for it. The Hip Hop Homo on the other hand is just retarded.

after dorking around with the TNM wrestling simulator, i'm a lot more forgiving of the fed putting performers in the tag ranks when they don't know what to do with them. hopefully this is just a placeholder thing.

with wwf officials checking out the cruiserweights down in the farm leagues and rumor that the division will get on its feet after the split, you gotta think that's where scotty is eventually headed. i do, at least. he was the second light heavyweight champion back when the net consensus was brian christopher was a lock for the title.

albert's character lost its direction after the invasion started. he was doing alright when the fed had a smaller roster. taker was working out with him in the ring before tv (thanks for the clarification, bucs fan) and saying he had the right attitude - that he was always asking the more experienced wrestlers what he was doing right and wrong in his matches.

scotty and albert together - they're just another big guy / little guy tag team and a pretty disposible one at that, imo.

the funniest thing about albert is that he's bald and pierced nine ways to sunday. a prince albert is a pierced urethra - thus making albert the wrestler a pierced dick.

I like the Hip Hop Hippo... I don't like heel Albert. I think that if you're not good on the mic (presumably, Albert isnt at this time), you're not gonna be an interesting "enforcer" heel. It doesn't cut it anymore to just be big and menacing. See Show, Big.

You don't need to speak when you're kicking ass behind the refs back for someone who can speak. Diesel never spoke when he was HBK's bodyguard (don't quote me on that), and he got over eventually.

I agree: Albert is best as a bad ass. He was much more interesting with Droz and with X-Factor. Unfortunatly, his thick Boston accent makes his promos silly (I keep waiting for him to say "Now I'm wicked pissed" or "How do you like them apples?").

The best Albert moment was when he was backstage at Heat telling Foley he deserved a certain match (for the IC title?) and Foley threatened to book him as George the Animal Steele, Jr. at every county fair in the country. He needs a cowardly heel to work with as a partner or in a stable. Maybe Regal? There aren't many better mouthpieces in the WWF right now.

Mostly he needs a new moniker. "Albert" does nothing. Even "Big" Al Bloom would be better. If he is going to remain a face and continue to be teamed with Scotty, call him "Phat" Albert. This is SO obvious, and is 3,000,000 times better than "The Hip-Hop Hippo."
