| #1 Posted on 31.5.03 2316.15 Reposted on: 31.5.10 2316.48 | So how do you guys feel about Shane McMahon? I'm trying to decide whether all the hoopla about Shane's in-ring work was because he was a legitimately good worker or simply because he broke the mold of the "McMahon ring performer." Do you want more Shane in the ring? Do you want more Shane AT ALL?
Personally, I don't find him too offensive, and you can tell the guy works hard while he's in the ring, but I don't know how right it is, ethically speaking, to put the boss' son in such high profile matches once every three months or so. He doesn't have to worry about working the grueling schedule other wrestlers have, so he can kill himself in one spot-filled match, get tons of pops from the crowd, and leave them thinking he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I imagine it must leave a bad taste in the mouths of at least some of the regular wrestlers.

People should respect him, he's a rich man who doesn't need to do all that crazy shizzle to make me mark out, but he does. Plus he has loads of charisma and is not forced down our throats, so it's special when he is on tv or at an event. WWE means McMahon(even though it's publicly traded now), so they can do whatever they want. Though they should listen to the fans now more than ever, Vince is getting Xpac heat on Smackdown. | uberlou

The kid has got guts though and works his ass off thru practically every match he's had. He doesn't have to do it, but he does it and I respect him for it.
I have to admit, ever since the days he was calling Heat, Shane O' Mac has proven to be the more entertaining and charasmatic one of the two McMahon offspring. You can't hate the guy either. He's extremely likeable and seems like a really fun guy to hang out with too in real life. | Venom

We've seen every possible fued they can do with them (Vince vs. Shane, Stephanie vs. Vince, Linda vs. Vince, Linda and Stephanie vs. Shane and Vince). Although, in Vince's mind Stephanie vs. Shane would be a new match-up. They've each turned heel and face a bazillion times (Linda is the only one to remain the same since her first appearance), so why should the fans get involved with them? Continuity's a bitch to keep up with because they've all hated each other at least THREE times and been allied with each other at least THREE times in the past 4 years. | jwrestle

I personally loved the confindential about him and Kurt Angle from KOR(rip) match they had a couple years back now. I believe some workers, marks, and smarks probably have or had jealousy toward him due to kind of matches he has been involved in. While not working any kind or near a full WWE work schedule. They were pretty high in the card and they were pretty darn good matches. Yeah, some have been spot fest but he did look to be having fun putting on a top notch show. Some of it being very painful for him, painful for me to watch, but fulfilling after it was all over. Just wait...soon enough he'll have to call Trips brother-in-law. -He's not to feud with a family member -He's not to insert himself into the title hunt -He's not to spend more than 15 minutes on the stick.

"Normal" heat is when a heel character gets booed by the crowd after a scathing promo, by mercilessly beating down a popular babyface, by blatantly cheating to win and escape what looks like a certain face victory, etc. In other words, being a good heel. See HHH circa 2000.
"X-Pac heat" is also known as "Bossman heat." It's not the crowd booing because they've bought into your character; they're booing because you suck in the ring and on the stick, they're not entertained by you at all, and they would rather see some other wrestler with the ticket they paid for, not you. It's the crowd's way of saying "You suck, please go away." (Not to be confused with crowds rhythmically chanting "You Suck!" during Kurt Angle's music. That's a great example of "normal" heat.)
If you're a heel, "normal" heat means you're getting over with them as a bad guy. "X-Pac" heat means you're sliding down the depth chart, and probably on your way out of a job.

"Xpac" heat. Hmm, anybody else like Xpac? I don't think I'm all alone. I think people cheered him at WM15 when he fought Shane. And Xpac sucks in the ring? I beg to differ. I liked Xpac and all of DX, and so did most people. But memories are short in wrestling. | Mr. Boffo

As far as Shane goes, I got nothing bad to say about him. When we see him get hype, we get hype right along with him. He's got that energy that is so infectious. I got no problem with him at all as far as I can tell. I don't know how you feel about this (I actually think I do), but I happen to also enjoy him interacting with Steph. You can tell they have fun doing that.

| #16 Posted on 1.6.03 1330.55 Reposted on: 1.6.10 1331.15 | The problem I have with the Shane-O-Mac spotfests, are that although they're supposed to get the opponent over, after the match, all anyone ever talks about is Shane. They forget there was another guy in the ring (the exception is Shane's match against Kurt Angle at King of the Ring). Now, it's probably not his fault, I don't know if he books the matches that way or not, but it seems to happen almost invariably.
Example: Test vs. British Bulldog in a cage on Raw. Everyone remembers that Shane pulled off a crossbody on the entire Mean Street Posse from the top of said cage, but people forget that Test executed a perfect (IMO) elbow from the top of the cage onto Davey Boy like two seconds earlier. People were still recovering from that when Shane scurried up the side of the cage and launched himself off the top, so people forgot about poor Test. | dMr

So either they're booing cos they're buying into the character or they're booing because they genuinely don't like the guy.
But they're still booing which surely makes it kinda hard to tell what sort of heat a guy's getting. For what its worth (I'm wagering estimates start at a few pence) the heat Vince has been getting sounds pretty normal to me. | OMEGA

I don't hate Vince, but the story he is in now and with all the face time he is getting on tv I put him in the Xpac Heat column. I just want him and his character off tv! This being said someone with Xpac Heat is not hated forever, even Xpac, it's only when you are really irked with them. I hated his fued with Kane and joined in on the Xpac Heat, but when him and Y2j had a cage match near the end of his WWE stint I loved the way both of them wrestled in the match and gave him props for it. |
