The US has floated plans to turn Guantanamo Bay into a death camp, with its own death row and execution chamber. Prisoners would be tried, convicted and executed without leaving its boundaries, without a jury and without right of appeal...
I object to the use of the phrase "death camp" (it carries connotations which I believe are unfair in this context), and it's worth noting that these plans aren't set in stone yet or anything, but YEESH. How many more civil liberties have to be violated there before anybody gives a damn?

I'd like to hear a rebuttal from the other side from someone who knows about the situation before I make up my mind. I think we can agree that the article is tilted just a wee bit politically. A few months ago, in the Boston Globe, they had interviews with detainees that had been released. These men said they got 3 meals a day, got to watch television, play videogames, exercise, and bathe whenever they wanted. They said the treatment was better than their lives in Afghanistan. Before these interviews came out, people were just assuming that we were torturing people there. I am going to hold off judgement for now.
