| #4 Posted on 27.5.03 1908.37 Reposted on: 27.5.10 1914.38 | I'm all for fan interaction with the seemingly heartless WWE, but this Diva Search confounds me. I'm with OMEGA when wondering what this is going to achieve. RAW has the best wrestlers of the women's division already, while the rest (of both brands) really need to be slotted into roles that avoid dumbass T&A that only pop arenas, but make for dull TV. Seriously folks, Torrie and Sable kiss? Big deal after we see everything they have to offer in Playboy. In the search for a Diva, WWE will probably treat entrants like they did Tough Enough entrants... humiliation. If they're too bad to enter, pretend they don't exist. It's not like they don't do that in other avenues already.
If they're not careful, WWE will sting themselves to Gayda proportions. They need to have a steady approach. Mind you, this is an internet thing isn't it? Am I right in thinking, there's probably little promotion of this outside of the website anyway? That makes it even more pointless.
I have a sneaking suspicion there's some kind of fix involved, and it will end up being a gimmick to introduce someone they already have on the roster but hasn't been let loose yet. Gail Kim is one I can think of straight away. Apart from a small feature in RAW magazine, and a small spot in the recent SmackDown Tour De Force programme, where has she been? | Net Hack Slasher

I mean COME ON! Using Jackie Gayda as your example of "Who you can be Like". That is just too rich... But I do have a creepy feeling that Lawler will be going through all the photos of the young girls with WWE Dreams on his little laptop he had on Raw. | Mr. Boffo

You guys are answering the question yourselves. We have seen Torrie and Sable in Playboy, so interest in them have waned. Dawn Marie and Nidia have not clicked with audiences for a while.
The Raw scene includes the same four women we have seen wrestling against each other for over 2 years. The Tough Enough 2 gals have obviously not caught on. Molly is in OVW (screw you Vince).
So the WWE might be better off in getting another girl who can look good and perhaps actually be able to ACT in vignettes. I have no problem with getting new blood in there, especially doing it in a high profile way like this. | Underwater

Yeah, but Gail Kim is RIGHT THERE, waiting for her call-up. It's not like there's a shortage of hot, talented women in the indies either. Alexis Laree, Trinity, Taylor Matheny, any one of them would be fine. | Toast Jr

| #13 Posted on 28.5.03 1141.07 Reposted on: 28.5.10 1143.12 | WWE wouldn't necessarily have to bring in a new "diva" if they simply used their current crop in new and inventive ways. The same old, basic "Trish vs. Victoria, Trish vs. Molly, Jazz vs. Trish, Jazz vs. Molly" etc. type of storylines and matches are now boring, and the only thing you really end up watching for is to see how well the women have improved in the ring. What they need to do is insert some new element: a women's heel stable, an unstoppable monster (bigger than Jazz), a Trish heel turn, SOMETHING unexpected and creative that they PUSH fans to accept. These are the only types of things that will take the womens division to the next level, IMHO.

Goodness gracious! This is some entertaining stuff. After the initial WWE screening, there are apparently 3 rounds of "fan voting". With the whole shebang (no pun intended) targeting SummerSlam in August. (Phoenix in August -- oh, yeah -- come on down!! That's one way to get women's clothes off ...)

No, no, no -- I wasn't talking about that. I was thinking more along the lines of "stuffing the ballot box" or "rigging the poll". Different other thing entirely.
