It's still early, but she's playing one-under through seven holes, including a par on those notorious par-5's everyone keeps talking about.
If I read correctly, +3 made the cut last year, so at this pace I think she'll make the cut.
On a side note, did anybody see what her odds of winning the thing were? One site, according to ESPN, has her at 201-1.
Does it mean anything? Probably not, but it's pretty interesting...

It's a lot quicker than having everyone wait to go to the first tee; more people are on the course at the same time, so the whole process takes less time.

This is more common for club tournaments where they've got around 18 groups and want to get everybody playing ASAP.
ObAnnika: She'll do fine. I don't personally understand the whinging and the moaning and the hey hey; in most other sports, women are precluded from competing with men simply due to the differences in physical capabilities (a situation exacerbated when you're talking about the prime physical specimens that are professional athletes). But golf is more about concentration, strategy, and consistency than about physical capabilities. | #18 Posted on 24.5.03 0144.53 Reposted on: 24.5.10 0145.00 | Annika did fall pretty hard in the second round, but she still showed grace and poise in her disappointing Friday.
The problem is that her rounds are not going to change many minds. Her defenders can point to her first day and her attitude overall. Her detractors can look at her second day and her sponsor's exemption (which is my only problem with her playing in the tourney...she needs to qualify to play in the PGA events like most everyone else).
Overall, this whole deal was a success for golf because of the sheer magnitude and amount of reaction it garnered. Hell, this is the first time in many years that I have watched the first two rounds of any golf tournament. I just feel bad for CBS, who will be broadcasting the final two rounds that 1/4th of the audience will watch now that Annika is out of the tournament. | MoeGates

And also, she missed the cut because her putting game was off. She's still proved that she has the game to play with the men, she just had an off day.

| #20 Posted on 24.5.03 1126.21 Reposted on: 24.5.10 1127.02 | If she is going to play more, even on just a semi-regular basis, she does need to qualify. As a one-shot, I think it was OK to take the exemption. But I don't think it would be fair to do the PGA tour on exemptions.
I have my doubts that she will play again. I mean, I think she could hang alright with the guys. But on the other hand, is that good enough for Annika, to merely hang? When she is on the LPGA, she is a champion, a Hall of Famer. I think the best she could ever hope for on the PGA is to be average, with it more likely that she would be below average. I don't think that would be good enough for Annika. Most champions want to compete for #1, not to just make the cut.
I think she did what she wanted to do. I think she knows that she can play with them. She also probably now knows that her game is far from perfect, and she does have things she can work on. And I do think she did shut some people up who thought that she would totally embarass herself out there. I think that's all she wanted to do.
