Some I think will make it in that you didnt put

Best Picture - In the bedroom seems to be getting a push that might get in there.

Director - Baz Luhrmann - Moulin Rouge - that movie is a darling of everyone.

Actor - Sean Penn - I am Sam - even though I thought he was WAY too over the top, characters like that always gets someone oscar talk.... I hope to god Hackman is in there he was wonderful.

Actress - I think all of yours is pretty right on I hope Andrey Tautou doesn't get forgotten

supporting actor - Jon Voight - Ali - I think he's got a better chance of making it then Will Smith as a lead

supporting actess - Judi Dench - The Shipping News
- I hope Gwyneth does make it here as well.

I am not sure that Amelie will garner a Best Picture and Best Actress nominations. The film was great and Audrey Tautou was fantastic but I doubt they will get both nods.

My biggest hope is that Waking Life gets a domination for Best Animated Film.

Dear god. For the first time in recent history - it appears I am completely out of it when it comes to Oscars. I have seen next to none of the big movies this year, having been stuck with a handful of stinkers when going with friends.

I'll have to watch the awards show to see what I should be renting when available. It's been a good while since I've had a chance to see a REALLY good movie. American Beauty is probably the last unbelievable mind blowing movie I saw, which is really sad.

Any recommendations? I have no qualms sitting through a long drama, though I'm not really into sci-fi or magic junk. (Leaving Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings on the outs...)

Royal Tenenbaums

I actually saw that in the theatre a couple weeks ago - and it was hysterical. Can't say it was mindblowing, but certainly the best I've seen since I got a chance to catch Apocolypse Now Redux in the fall.

Maybe my standards are too high. ;-)

I was pleasantly surprised how well my predictions were.

I'm happy that Gosford Park got a Best Picture nod and ditto for Robert Altman. I've had no desire to see Blackhawk Down and was glad to see it didn't get one.

I was amazed that Iris did so well (not seen it yet) and surprised that Waking Life didn't get an Animated nomination.

Stephen Hunter was on the Kornheiser show today and predicted a big haul for Lord of the Rings.
