hmmm.. let me see...as I gaze into my crystal ball I'm going out on a limb and guessing..gee whiz.. the Lakers will win game 6? I'm sure no one else was going to guess that. There were actually some shitty calls going against SA tonight, but just to bring it close so people wouldn't tune out at the end of the 4th quater. The Spurs almost lost it on their own however.

The Spurs really tried hard to give this one away, and had Horry's shot went down...well, the rest would've been history. As it is, the Spurs narrowly escape and take years off my life in the process.

Well, here's hoping the Spurs can play all 4 quarters on Thursday and succeed where the Blazers and Kings failed before.

Ding, dong, you're wrong!

Of course, I have the benefit of seven years' hindsight, and the Wikipedia article on the 2003 NBA Playoffs.

As disappointing as the fourth quarter was shaping up to be, and as much pain as the Spurs were trying to inflict upon all of us, has there been a better moment in sports television in the past month than when Horry missed that shot? Here's to hoping that we get an even more fulfilling moment at the end of Game 6..

Please tell me you're not actually saying that there were *25 POINTS WORTH* of intentionally bad calls made against the Spurs in a single quarter for the specific purpose of keeping TV viewers from changing the channel before the game ended.

I had a feeling throughout the game that unless the Spurs were up 30 going into the 4th quarter, they would find a way to blow the game, and they almost completed the task. This is why I can't see them winning the series. The 36-42 minute game routine has become a pattern for the Spurs throughout the playoffs, and if they do it again in Game 7, they won't be able to survive it. How a team with Duncan can repeatedly in the 4th quarter go multiple possession without him touching the ball when Shaq is on the bench boggles the mind.

No I clearly said the Spurs did just fine letting LA close the gap on their own. Th refs did give LA that initial push, however.

Well, if (not that it's a big if, but if) the refs are in the Lakers' pockets and are trying to squeeze a game 7 out of this series, wouldn't it have made sense for the Lakers to win at Staples? Now, IIRC, they're going into San Antonio with the possibility of clinching the series. If the refs do something horribly wrong, as in most of the other times the Lakers have had some help winning, they had better cover their heads as they get out of the arena. If I saw that my team was getting screwed by the refs I would most definitely throw something. Now imagine 20,000 people throwing something.

I guess Robert Horry has made enough clutch shots in his life that he was due to miss one eventually. Like Mariano Rivera in Game Seven in the 2001 Series.

Horry is 0 for 15 in this series. Maybe he thought he was due to MAKE one? :)

The fans don't take bad calls too well at the SBC Center. They gave the refs hell for ejecting Kevin Willis in Game 1 in the Phoenix series as they left the court at halftime.
