It couldve went either to TD or KG. Both are complete players that LED their teams to 50-plus win seasons. Overhyped guys like Kobe, TMac, and AI are not in that category. Sure they're good for Sportsceneter highlight reels and sneaker endorsements, but so was Dominique Wilkins, and he never got the award.
AI and TMac are lucky they play in the East, because they probably wouldnt even get to the playoffs if they played in that conference. And Kobe proved exactly how "valuable" he was when Shaq was injured. Yeah, he was good for 40-plus ppg, but that's cause noone else on the team could score double-digits.

Iverson played incredible against the Hornets. He makes shots we they need them. After watching him (AL) play the Hornets, without AL the Sixers would be Cr@p. No Way Coleman or Snow could carry the Sixers.

I agree that KG could've just as easily taken it as well, since he and Duncan are about equally matched and he had a good regular season as well. I don't think anybody in the 50 wins or fewer, Junior Varsity East deserved the award, and while Kobe was on fire towards the second half of the season, he could've done something to keep the Lakers out of that 11-19 hole to begin with.
