The Mighty Ducks just won the 4th longest game in Stanley Cup Playoff history, 4-3. That was an awesome game.

Hockey Rules.

FUUUUUUUCK awesome!
I am at work here (netherlands) keeping taps on the game via ESPN/NHL..stood up and yelled out when I saw them Duckies won.

Looks like one helluva game. I hate being here in Holland deprived of my fix.

Ok..they did the same as they did in the first round. Took all Dallas had to offer and beat them deep in OT. I hope the same scenario will play out! :)

I almost fell off the nordictrack this morning when I saw 5 OT's go by on Bottomline - I immediately switched over to ESPN and picked up the re-play of the game with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd period - still think Dallas wins the series but I hope they all play out like last night

I lasted through the end of the third overtime, and then desperately needed some sleep. (When my Flyers had their five-OT game a couple of years ago, I went the distance, but that was my home team playing.)

Go Ducks. (And Go Lightning, a phrase that I don't believe I've ever used before.)

That's it. Either J.S. Guigere is going to pass out from exhaustion during one of the next few games or the Ducks are going to win the Cup. That's right. I just picked the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to win the Stanley Cup.

You do realize that by posting that in a Wienerboard sports forum, you've completely negated their chances to win?

Oh well.

I stayed awake the whole time, and I sure was pissed about the 'No goal' during the third OT. Sudden Death sure does rock, though.

What a game, what a story. I am glad I stayed up to watch the whole thing.

It will be interesting to see how the Stars bounce back Saturday afternoon.

I say that if Giguere keeps his groove on and the Ducks get a 3-1 lead at ANY point, they're going to the conference finals to lose to the Canucks in 7.

Gotta love those Ducks, but a Canadian team is representing the West this year, kids.

That was an exciting game, I'm glad I stayed up to watch it too. Not only were both teams putting in 100% the whole time, but even the fans were into the whole damn time! Kudos to the Dallas fans for applauding Anaheim's hard fought victory at the end.

By the way, can someone tell me what they said about the disallowed goal? I think I missed it, did they ultimately decide that it was kicked in?

No, the goal had been pushed off it's line. And I guess that the rules state that if the goal was moved off the line before the puck goes in (it was starting to raise up just before the puck crossed the line) it's not a goal, no matter how the goal was being pushed. Which in this case was because on of the Stars had Thomas pinned against the side of the goal. So while I think the rule might be a little silly as in this case where 1) The goal hadn't actually moved anywhere and 2) It was a Dallas player that was causing the movement, the refs did the right thing by going what was written in the rulebook.

At least, that's what SportsCenter led me to believe. They might've just made the whole thing up.

The net came off the moorings. This isn't the sort of thing that should be left to judgement ("yeah, it came off, but did it move?"). The officials need CLEAR-CUT rules and in the NHL, they have a lot of them (nowadays). The rule says that if the net comes off the moorings, play stops immediately. Even if the whistle comes later, video replay can be used to confirm whether or not the net was in place when the puck crossed the line. Good call by the officials on that one.

(Now, let's get some linesmen that can properly dodge a puck and we're all set.

J.S. Giguere keeps building a legend with every game. It's *insanity* to bet against him at this point, kids.

Further evidence: Today's performance.

I smell another sweep, everybody.

I think the Ducks are this year's Carolina Hurricanes.

Or, dare I say it, this year's 1986 Montreal Canadiens. And Giguere is Patrick Roy version 2.0
