The Three Stooges skit was sort of funny.
Chris Parnell's Bush impression stinks, though. It's nowhere near as funny as Will Ferrell's.

The game show parody was funny.
I'm kicking myself for missing the Rosie O'Donnell joke... if someone could reprint that, I'd be appreciative.
Otherwise, the show stunk. Goes to show you how much you miss Ferrell, Gasteyer, Shannon, etc. | HrdCoreJoe

Bernie Mac gave it a go and his monologue was great stuff. "I can't carry no gun and I can't carry no knife. But no one said nothing about carrying no hammer." I had higher expectations for the Mac man, so I guess I'm a little disappointed that last night wasn't funnier.

| #7 Posted on 6.4.03 1900.13 Reposted on: 6.4.10 1901.53 | I was let down by the episode last night in a lot of ways, but it had it's moments, at times.
I loved the game show skit... But what really got me was Weekend Update, as usual.
The Rosie O'Donnell joke went something like this...
"It's official... Rosie O'Donnell's long time lover, Kathy Carpenter (I think that was her last name) has legally changed her name to Kathy O'Donnell. Sources say the happy couple will celebrate by eating out tonight."
It was funnier when Tina Fey delivered the news bit though.
I also miss Will Ferrell. The show is just not the same. Added to that, Chris Kattan's appearances in skits is greatly decreased. But I'll go back as far as saying that the show has been lacking something since Molly Shannon left. | tomvejada

There are some positives, though, Tina's Rosie O'Donnell joke was funny, and Will Forte is fast becoming my favorite SNL castmember.

I really liked her Martha Stewart parody, and she and Molly Shannon always cracked me up with the NPR "Delicious Dish" skits.
That first skit with the guy/girl at Fenway with Bernie Mac as the vendor blew total ass, though. | A Fan

| #10 Posted on 7.4.03 2334.55 Reposted on: 7.4.10 2334.55 | SNL has been on a slide for years now. Losing people like Snadler, O'Teri, Farrell and Shannon is not easy to come back from. I still think they lost a ton of steps after Norm was fired and most of the cast bolted for Hollywood. The girl power trio really helped out a lot espically with Will there, but after Will left you knew the show was going to suck.
The major compliant I see is that they are not funny and/or professional enough. Two co-host Weekend Update only worked with Jane Curtain, but even when Chevy left it was rough. Tina is too condescending for my taste and the fact that she writes and gets the best lines is no suprise. Jimmy/Hector can't work together without cracking up like a bunch of Frat boys. Their Webcam skits are weak at best. The show needs another mass firing. I say bring in some fresh talent from some improv groups who can work together without fucking up and have chemistry. The cast doesn't have much chemistry, I'd say the only chemistry going on is how many etchinic groups they can put in there. Reminds me of fucking Real World.

I agree with you on the mass firing. I can think of at least 5 cast members that won't be back next year.

I'm still puzzled as to how SASSO lost all those pounds after one year, though.

| #15 Posted on 10.4.03 1255.15 Reposted on: 10.4.10 1256.04 | ON Mad TV I did like Nicole Sullivan, Debra Wilson is okay. Really liked Sasso. The tall guy who plays the caffeine dude is funny. Mad TV needs their claymation stuff again. Mad TV has it's moments, some of the females on the show currently are okay but they really do miss Nicole Sullivan and Will Sasso.
For SNL, I think they have some decent females on the show, Amy Poehler is very underrated and does some good skits, Maya Rudolph is good on the most part and Rachel Dranch is decent enough. I really like Tina Fey, she and Jimmy have had great Updates weekly. Will Forte and Chris Parnell are my favorites from the men side... Not the best cast ever but I think they are decent, it is strange seeing the "best of SNL" on my NBC affiliate, immediately after the normal running of SNL and seeing some great shows compared to the good shows of today.
As for last weeks show, I think they went a little heavy on the angry black man annoyed at white geeks skits. But I also really liked the Game show bit of the white guys who couldn't answer the simplest questions concerning African Americans
