Edwin Starr, famous for "War" passed away in Nottingham, England yesterday. Interesting that he died while there was a war going on.

I just hope that [insert muscians name here] does not attempt to "cover" the song...even though the timing appears to be as right as it ever will be. Starr's vocals MADE that song, so it would be nice if "WAR" is left well enough alone.
and while I'm wishing for things, if the Torch uses "friend only to the Undertaker" as an "Obscure Wrestling Reference", well...

Agreed on the lack of need for a cover, though the timing IS debatable. I did, however, see Springsteen do an AWESOME cover of the song at his L.A. Colisseum concert back in '85. (Why yes, I WAS 11 years old...it was my first concert.) So, if anyone was going to cover it, I guess Bruce would be OK with me.
Still, too much sad news goin' on. | Simba

| #11 Posted on 4.4.03 2303.58 Reposted on: 4.4.10 2304.21 | I actually thought Barry McGuire'a 'Eve Of Destruction' was a better anti-war song, but that's just me.
Edwin Starr's 'Stop the War Now' and 'Way Over There' were actually better songs, but didn't get much (if at all) air play. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
