Well the 'Cats barely survived the Badgers. Great game all around. UK really didn't defend the three well at all in first half. Big props to Wisconsin for giving it there all, if they had played Texas or Oklahoma I think they would have won.

Double whew on Pitts losing. I like our chances against Marquette better- we pose some match up problems with them provided Bogans is healthy. Pitt would have matched up well with us a little better as far as size. But our style of play should give Marquette fits.

To Duke- I say see ya. I'm always happy when Duke loses, even it is to Kansas.

Arizona looked great last night, albeit to a pretty weak Notre Dame team.

Can't wait for tonights games!

UK better get it together because Marquette is a good team....plus I have them winning in my bracket and need the money from the pool.

I can only hope that Bogans pulls a Willis Reed and plays a great game this afternoon. While we're not dependent on the one player, if he can't go, those will be some large shoes to fill. (The part of me that's a wrestling fan wants this all to be a work with Bogans doing a great job of selling an injury in order to throw Marquette off. The part of me that is a realist knows the other is merely folly.)

But, as long as Chuck Hayes is healthy, I still like our chances today. As long as Hawkins doesn't try to shoot jumpers, and if Barbour and Kaz can play some quality minutes, I think we can do it. This team has won with defense since the Vandy game.

Man, I was worried about this game, but I had no idea . . .

With Marquette and Louisville being so close I knew UK would have their hands full today, and they put it on the Cats just like the Cards did back in Dec.

Congrats Marquette and don't hurt me and my brackets any further by beating Arizona next round!

Congrats to the Cats on a very good season, and for pulling things together when quite a few people didn't think they would.

And the most important thing of all about Kentucky losing today: The stat that when Kentucky wins the National Championship the Yankees win the World Series will not be in effect this season. Thank God.

:-(

I had been reserved about this team's chances all year long. I finally began believing a few weeks ago that they actually could avoid this type of showing. I turned the TV off in frustration with about 6:30 left in the first half in the hope that my absence would somehow lead to a comeback. (I also figured it would make me more pleasant for my wife and dogs to deal with.)

Congratulations to Marquette. As down as I am, I can't complain about a 32-4 record, an Elite 8 appearance, and a final AP ranking of 1. If memory serves, that's the 3rd time in the past 10 years that Marquette has put us out of the tourney. Since we've won 2 in that span, that makes them responsible for 37.5% of my personal March Sadness.

It's been a great season. Thanks to all of the other Wieners who pulled for the 'Cats all year (Drew, FFEJ) and the other SEC fans who were kind and gracious (Chuck, Quezzy) throughout the season.

I didn't want to say this until April, but I can't wait until next year!

Well we had a good run for sure. At least we went further than Indiana, Louisville, and Duke!

I would like to see Roy Williams get his National Championship since we are out of it. So Kansas- you got a fan in me.

The big question now remains- Will Tubby head to the NBA? I hope not- he really came into his own as a college coach this year and would like to see him stick around for a long long time. If he does go I bet we see Lapin and his HAIR on the Rupp Arena sidelines next year.

I almost want to root for Kansas, but I still haven't forgiven the 150-95 ass whipping they gave Farmer, Feldhaus, Pelphrey, et al. during the first probation season under King Richard. Although I won't watch any more games, I guess I'll pull for Kansas.

I must have really underestimated Syracuse, or at least I overestimated Oklahoma. I felt that game was the weekend's biggest shocker.

I hope Tubby doesn't go to the NBA. Some things I've read at KSR seem to indicate that he's planning on staying. And I agree, I want him to retire from UK quite a few years from now.

If he does go to the NBA, maybe we could get Eddie Sutton? (Sarcasm intended).

I don't want Lavin. If Tubby were to leave I'd go to Fayetteville and steal Stan Heath. I think Billy Donovan's time as a prospect has passed. Maybe wait a couple of years and see what kind of coach Pelphrey becomes? Hell, my best friend and I just KNOW that we'd do a great job in Lexington :-)

I just hope Tubby stays. I also hope that Marquiss understands that there's not much demand in the NBA for 6'9" centers. I also hope that he realizes his propesnisty for fouling and lack of a consistent mid-range shot really would work against his chances at being a NBA caliber power forward.

Something came to me last night, I almost feel about Marquette the way that Utah fans (and especially Rick Majerus, who by the way I wouldn't mind coaching UK if Tubby left until Pelphrey was ready to assume the throne) feel about us. Except, I've always thought we were better than Marquette, they seem to have one match-up that hurts us BAD.

Pelphry would make a good coach- but he needs to go somewhere small and cut his teeth for a few years as a head coach. If he continues the Billy Donovan track I would like to see him at Marshall. Marshall's coach Greg White sucks. The Herd had easily one of the better teams in the MAC season before last and under White they went below .500 in conference play with Tamar Slay and Jason Vanhoose. But Marshall is a football school and they rarely fire basketball coaches unless they violate NCAA sanctions (see Huckabey, Rick).

As far as former UK guys coaching- look at the job Kyle Macy has done at Morehead State. Morehead has been awful in basketball since Dick Fick left in the early 90's and even prior to Fick they were awful. In two years Kyle Macy has taken taken Morehead from OVC (Ohio Valley Conference)laughing stock to OVC powerhouse. Thats no small feat in a conference with Murray State and Austin Peay.

I would also like to see Majerus in Kentucky Blue (it would bring a whole new meaning to Go Big Blue *crowd throws trash after badjoke*). I mean he will never beat us, so he might as well join us! ;-)

He's already doing this at South Alabama. When Tubby's ready to leave (hopefully years from now), maybe John will be in a good position to take the helm.

Fick was the man. I remember in '92 or '93 when he was playing at Rupp he got so mad he stuck his head in the water cooler and tried to drown himself.

Anybody know of any recent coaches that made the transition from a successful college career to a successful NBA career? Tubby better talk to John Calipari and Rick Pitino first.
