| #1 Posted on 26.3.03 1353.09 Reposted on: 26.3.10 1354.50 | Well.....he's not exactly a "non-fan", he's a "used to be a fan". He hasn't really watched WWE in well over a year. I think it's been since well before last year's WM that he was actively involved in the WWE and their storylines. He hardly knows who Brock Lesnar is, so that gives you an idea. Anyway, I invited him to my place on Sunday to watch WrestleMania and he wanted to know the matches, so I ran down the card for him. The top matches he was interested in?? Vince vs. Hogan and Jericho vs. HBK. He was very impressed with the rest of the card, though, and said he'd come over and watch it. He didn't know anything about the "brand extention", so I explained that both shows are run seperately now and that both shows have their own champs. It took him by surprise that Lance Storm and Val Venis were the tag champs. Anyway, the point of my post is that he was first mostly interested in Hogan/Vince, so WWE pushing that as a top match doesn't seem to be as stupid as a lot of us "smarks" are making it. Umm, yeah.

No - why would they? Why would people who are not fans buy this event on their own? They're going to do what MonteCarl's friend is going to do - they're gonna go to a friend's house and watch. Whether the host wants them to split the cost of the PPV is up to the host, but it's just one buy. | MonteCarl

| #4 Posted on 26.3.03 1420.58 Reposted on: 26.3.10 1421.33 | This is WrestleMania. How many wrestling fans out there are going to individually buy the PPV anyway? I'm sure a LOT of people out there are getting the show and having a WrestleMania party (not to be confused with a Nitro Party) where a lot of people come over and watch it. It's still only one buy, but a lot of people are still watching it. And if Vince/Hogan brings that non/casual wrestling fan over to a friend's house to watch the show, and if the show is good enough (which this show seems like it will be), then they'll be brought back and start watching again. I was just making a point that Vince/Hogan is a marquee match for a lot of casual wrestling fans.

Twentysomething male is listening to his generic rock station in his hometown. Some DJ is babbling about how he read that the Miller Lite girls were gonna be at WrestleMania. Makes some joke about their 15 minutes being up soon, etc.
Listener later hears a radio spot for WM or sees an ad on TV. Hogan/Vince? "Wow, I'd pay to see that." Everyone knows who Vince and Hogan are. "Wait, The Rock's gonna fight... against Stone Cold! I might have to check that out! Let me call my wrestling buddy and see if he's getting the show!" | skorpio17

| #14 Posted on 26.3.03 1725.26 Reposted on: 26.3.10 1726.56 | Hey, I'm as big of a wrestling freak as anybody here, and the match I want to see is Hogan/Vince. Why? Because some matches are just fun to watch, and this will certainly be one of them.
Booker T/Hunter should be another good match, assuming Triple H doesn't keep the title (not because I hate HHH or anything, but from a business standpoint they NEED a new champion that people care about to spark some post-Wrestlemania life into the company), and Austin/Rock has and always will be a good match. The one I'm least looking forward to is actually a tie between the A-Train/Bigshow vs. Taker/Jones match, and Lesnar/Angle. I don't know why, but for some reason Brock as a face trying his BEST to get the better of a guy half his size just doesn't get past my "this is fake" sensors.
Had Brock still been the monster, unstopable heel and Angle was the underdog face who was completely overmatched, like Shawn Michaels used to do when main-eventing with bigger guys, then I'd be going nuts for it like everyone else.

Whatever Brock can throw at Angle, Kurt can reverse into the same thing. If they had built up Angle as the technical mastermind that he is and let someone like Benoit coach Brock about Kurt, then this match would have everything going for it. It's my odds-on favorite for RSPW MOTY going in, but the build to it could be better. | Big Bad

I say get over it. It's Wrestlemania. It symbolizes everything Vince and the WWE is. Do you honestly think he's going to go out and ruin it for everyone? Hell no! Vince is the man and I'm sure that he has enough to keep us entertained. Oh yeah, I like that Hogan guy too. Trust me, guys, this is going to be the match that surprises the most people. | spf

However, I have full faith that the Hulk/Vince match will be a hoot in a sportz entertainment sort of way. As a match it will suck donkey balls, but they will throw enough stuff into it with run-ins and objects and angles and all sorts of stuff that as a one-off event it ought to work well enough. All of this is of course as long as it is not the main event of the evening. If that happens, all bets are off. | kazhayashi81

No. Find a girl who loves wrestling as much as you do. One who goes out and shops for wrestling figures and DVDs and buys PPVs with you. Then marry her. That worked for me :) | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
