| #1 Posted on 4.2.02 0116.45 Reposted on: 4.2.09 0116.46 | Wow...This game is really freaking addictive. It's cute, funny, and actually pretty damn challenging. I continually get my ass handed to me in tournaments, even though I've pimped my little golf pro out with some mad golfing skills.
I bought it on a suggestion from my friend, thinking that it would be hokey and lame (and make a nice early birthday present for my dad or my brother in law). It'll be sitting on my shelf instead. The best of (the fairly lame, but underrated)Golf Tychoon and the charm of Sims. Whee! | Promote this thread! | | shotgun_russ

| #2 Posted on 4.2.02 1321.30 Reposted on: 4.2.09 1329.02 | How is playing the courses you make compared to other golf games? I really want a course designer that's easy to learn (which eliminates Links and PGA Championship) but be able to play the course (which eliminates Golf Tycoon).
My only beef with SimGolf from looking at the previews of it was how cartoonish the courses looked (the right angles on all the holes, for example). I guess it's no worse than platform games like Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf, but I just would like something a little more realistic, I think.
Has anybody every played Swing Away Golf for Playstation 2? I heard that has a course designer too. Sorry if that's a lot of questions, but I've been looking for a decent course designer for about 6 months now. | Excalibur05

| #3 Posted on 4.2.02 1450.45 Reposted on: 4.2.09 1459.07 | Boy...If you're looking to "play" as in choosing a club, choosing how hard you hit it, what spin to give it, etc...It's not that great. When you play your course, you select from one of five shots (a straight shot (or drive), a left-right shot, a right-left shot, a chip, and a roll) and where you'd like to try to hit it to. Once you hit the green, the putting is all automated. The physics is pretty realistic though, and fairways play differently, depending on the type you put down (there's a soft fairway and a hard fairway that gives the ball more bounce).
The game itself looks pretty cartoonish, I agree, but you can design them however you'd like. Don't like the right angles don't put them in. My hugest problem is that Sim Golfers tend to get spooked by the lack of fairway on some of my holes, so they compensate by playing off the fairway on the hole next to it. Then they almost hit the people playing that hole, and everybody gets mad.
Still, it's a fun course designer, but it's not much of a golf sim (though for me it's good enough, pick a shot, pick a location, and hope your guy is good enough to get it there). | Keith Myath

| #4 Posted on 4.2.02 1505.14 Reposted on: 4.2.09 1505.53 | I found the Tiger Woods 2001 course designer to be extremely involved and take a heap of time, but very nice play.
Personally, I always liked the Jack Nicklaus Sig. Edition design program, which is rather old school. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
