Nobody's drawing well for the WWE. That might change now that Rock & Austin are back, but I just can't see all these casual fans saying "Oooh, Goldberg, gotta rush out and get tickets!" If Goldberg was a draw, WCW might still be around. Now it's 2 years removed from his last work in North America, and you're saying Goldy has huge drawing power? I just don't see it. And if Goldy only wants to work a couple PPV's and then be gone, then it makes even less sense to sign him. | CRZ

No offense, but you're an idiot if you don't think Benoit/Lesnar wouldn't be one hell of a match...100x better than anything Godlberg would be able to do.
Best possible result of a Brock/Goldberg match? Brock squashes the holy living hell out of him. SD Jones might finally lose that record.

I think you are posted absurd statements just to get a rise out of people. Really, do you think ANYONE would get up an applaud and Goldberg match? But on several occassions, Benoit has been applauded for his efforts by the Interent community and the casual fan. Go to a live show and see how the crowd pops for Benoit. They love him and he is finally getting over with EVERYONE.
Trade Angle for Goldberg? Geeze Louise that is the dumbest statement ever made on this site. Angle is the future of wrestling. He can do it all. Goldberg was a gimmick that caught on, nothing more. He has no ability to make anyone look good or to carry a match.
Team Angle to Veolocity? See right here it just shows that you are trying to stir the pot. No one, except you, beleives that Team Angle should be demoted. They are both talented wrestlers who will be a tag team force for a while.

| #26 Posted on 5.3.03 1010.45 Reposted on: 5.3.10 1013.50 | I'd like to see Goldberg brought in as a guaranteed attraction at Wrestlemania. Have him, as say, an enforcer for the Rock/Austin match (Bischoff should be the one to bring him in anyway).
THEN, have him interfere in the WWE title match (Benoit v. Lesnar?). He jackhammers Benoit, so Lesnar gets the win by DQ, and since it's a tourney he still gets the title. Goldberg stares down Lesnar.
Have him fued with Benoit first (or whoever it was that had the title shot ruined) to knock off the ringrust. It'd be a number one contender match at Backlash, and Goldberg could win. (I don't care who he doesn't want to fued with... Smackdown needs him). Meanwhile, Brock can beat UT or Hogan or someone respected clean at Backlash to legitimize the title.
[/fantasy booking]
No matter what happens, Smackdown will need the starpower of Goldberg with Hogan on the way out and Angle and even Edge on the mend. Let people know he'll be at Wrestlemania, but don't give him a title shot or even a match so soon. | CRZ

It's true that Goldberg has said he will not work with Triple H or Lesnar, so I don't see him signing if they plan to bring him in against Lesnar 2. Sting would be better than Goldberg, and might add a little star power but i'd still rather see Benoit/Lesnar 3. Someone said that the WCW made a miskate by bringing in stars just to get a quick buyrate pop and it did nothing for the future. Totallly Agree. Forget about Goldberg, forget about Sting. Use Taker, Lesnar, Benoit and also push Eddie, Cena, Mysterio, Kanyon, Rhyno, and Matt Hardy up the ladder. Will it hurt the buyrates in the near future? Maybe so. But all of them have the ability to be stars if given the chance. | HrdCoreJoe

as for Benoit?..he's alright, but his best days are behind him. I enjoyed him alot more when he was "being held down" back in the old WCW.
Who cares about WrestleMania anyway, no matter what the matches are or who shows up, most of you are gonna bitch and complain because the guy with the highest workrate didn't win.

I think the casual fans are starting to think differently than they did a few years ago. Do you think that Benoit would have gotten that standing ovation for his awesome match at the Rumble three years ago? And do you think Scott Steiner would be booed out of the building because fans saw he wasn't a great wrestler three years ago?
I think that the IWC (I hate that phrase, but it's the only thing I can think of at this time) has a vision of casual fans that is now outdated. I feel that wrestling fans today will not react to Goldberg the same way they did back in 1998. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with Lesnar being poor on the mic, but I think that Benoit has improved leaps and bounds, and has finally found his niche in the serious, realistic promos he's been cutting for the past few months (mostly in front of a black screen).

| #35 Posted on 5.3.03 2251.39 Reposted on: 5.3.10 2256.43 | The best compromise I can think of is advertising a Goldberg `special appearance' at Mania. Show clips of him beforehand, hype the hell out of his winning streak, etc., but DO NOT say what he's doing at the event. That, in my opinion, would add as many buys to the PPV as him actually wrestling. The people who are going to order WrestleMania are already going to order it.
From there, you could have him either challenge the winner of Rock-Austin for Backlash or confront Lesnar after he defeats (I'm assuming) Benoit for the WWE title. It's hard to say which brand Goldberg belongs with more (though SmackDown may need him more these days), and that's part of the appeal. Everyone would want to know where he's going to end up.
But rushing Goldberg into the biggest event of the year (hell, even Scott Steiner had almost two months before he fought HHH at the Rumble, as did Hogan before last year's WM) -- that would be a major mistake. | Leroy

| #38 Posted on 6.3.03 0128.32 Reposted on: 6.3.10 0129.01 | I know I've said some fairly nice things about Goldberg in the past, but by no means do I think he should main-event WrestleMania. Especially because (allegedly) he's said he doesn't want to work with Lesnar. And quite frankly, I wouldn't want to see that match, anyway. Nor would I want to see him feud with Benoit, because we all know how one-sided WWE would book that to be. No... I say to hell with trying to sign Goldberg. If you're gonna try and sign any former WCW star, it should be either Sting or Jeff Jarrett. And I wouldn't rush either of those two to the WrestleMania main event either.
Hopefully, Angle will be able to somehow work the WrestleMania main event. If not, I'd go with Chris Benoit. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a huge Chris Benoit fan, but because with Benoit, you're guaranteed to have a great match.
But if we have a match between Lesnar and any other guy, one of those guys would have to come in as WWE Champion, right? And if Angle can't wrestle, how in the blue hell does anyone propose we get the belt off him? | Venom
