In a word: Eh.

I realize it's probably good for the business that Stone Cold is back, and boy did those fans raise the roof. Still, I can't help but think this is going to lead to the same old crap:

KICK WHAM STUNNER
KICK WHAM STUNNER
THESZ PRESS BY GAWD
PUNCH, PUNCH, PUNCH KICK WHAM STUNNER

At least Rock is developing his character a bit. Why must we always be stuck with THEOLD Stone Cold? Is that what the sheep demand?

Well, I think it's boring.

The worst part: Austin totally overshadowed everything on the show. The fans sat on their hands for anything not Rock or Austin related. Ultimately, how does that improve anything?

I'm not all doom and gloom. There was some great stuff on the show: the Hurricane/Rock skit immediately comes to mind.

Hey! They popped pretty loud for Booker too. A lot louder than in Canada last week.

On top of the Hurricane skit, it was rather nice to see Booker continue the push towards Wrestlemania. I don't know what to think about his match with The Rock next week, as neither one needs to put the other over cleanly, but I'm sure I'll turn off the ol' Smark cap and just enjoy the match when the time comes.
I managed to completely tune out during the women's match, only catching quick glimpses of the goddess Victoria.
I didn't care about Austin's return, so I have nothing to say about the end segment. I'll be nice and not say something mean.

I thought "same old Austin" was perfect. The crowd is clearly into it. The guy pulled more people to an autograph session this weekend than WWE can pull into a house show. I'm not worried about him getting stale. The guy has a record of reinventing himself. He's the last guy in the world I'm worried about in any way.

I got a kick out of his "You sitting on your asses at home...thank you". I thought that was pretty funny. I also liked how he apologized for possibly being rusty, then saying "WWF"...

The whole show was kind of “eh” to me. I just didn’t find myself getting into it all that much.

I suspect the resolution of the Rock/Booker T match next week will be Booker T winning by Austin interference, setting up heat for the Austin/Rock match at WM. Meanwhile, HHH can keep up his no-threat attitude toward Booker T, claiming that his big wins were all due to interference of some sort (Austin with Rock, HHH and Flair distracting Steiner).

At this point, I’m thinking they should move Big Show to Raw and put him in a program with Steiner culminating in a “suck the life out of the arena” match.

Last week’s Rock-Hurricane bit was classic. This week’s was Men in Black II. They’re just milking it. Yeah, I laughed, but I wouldn’t have minded if they left last week’s stand alone as something special.

My favorite thing on the show was Jericho and Christian. Everything they were involved in worked tonight.

Was I the only one who flashed back to Screamin’ Steven in “Rock and Roll High School” when HHH did his “This is the big time” part of his (outstanding) promo?

You know, the first thing I look for in a good entrance song is a muted trumpet.

Did Test develop his acting method by watching a Beachcombers marathon?

I thought it was a fairly good show, all things considered. Hate the fact that Batista and Orton are injured. Steiner still sucks in the rign, as much as I hate to admit it. He *wants* to be a good wrestler, but he can't because of the roids. Hurricane/Rock was off the charts again. And Austin...wow. Bischoff's offer to the Rock was interesting. Would they scrap the Booker T/TripleH main for a Triple Threat match? Rock vs. Austin vs. TripleH. Yeah, it shouldn't be for a title, but it'd be the most legitimate title defense since TripleH was handed the belt back in September.

Sick of Austin already. (I suppose I never really gave him a chance, but, on the other hand, fuck Austin.) The only thing I enjoyed from his entire segment is the fact that he seems to be staying on RAW, as opposed to fucking up Smackdown, as I was sure he's going to do. (A fact I'm especially glad about, seeing as how I have Smackdown tickets for next week's show, and I really don't have any desire to sit through anything involving the Wife-Beating Pussy.) That, and I did miss Bischoff saying "three minutes".

Everyone else will most likely hate it because it involved HHH and had definite racial overtones, but I've never minded being in the minority before - Hunter's opening promo was one of the strongest heel promos in a damn long time. I wanted nothing more than to see Booker beat the everloving piss out of Hunter right then and there and, for once, it was the character and not Paul Levesque. (As opposed to the previous paragraph). And the underlying message was this: Booker's going to win the title at Wrestlemania. I no longer have any doubt in my mind. (And don't start bitching about the Rock-Booker match next week. There's no WAY it'll be Rocky-HHH, especially heel VS heel, and especially after that promo.)

Rock and Hurricane... It just keeps getting better and better. Rocky's reaction when he opened that curtain... Finally, a wrestler realizes the hilarity of the well-timed pause. (Watch the blind man scene in "Young Frankenstein". It's not funny because he sets the Monster's thumb on fire - it's funny because the Monster thinks about it for a second before he screams.)

According to TV Reports, Molly turned full-blown face last night. (I didn't watch because, y'know, it's Heat). So why in the blue hell was Jackie Trish's partner instead of her? Has Jackie been over in the WWF/WWE, like, ever?!

Tommy Dreamer cracking Harvey Dee with the kendo stick during the Rolling Thunder caused me great physical pain.

UNINTENTIONALLY HILARIOUS MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: JR, in full shill mode, wailing on and on against Chris Jericho. (And I'm heavily paraphrasing here...) "By god, what kind of man beats on a woman!? Slobberknocker! Yeah, that makes you real tough guy. And later tonight - STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!")

Yes, she has; remember when her breasts popped out about 5 years ago and they started using her alot for the next 4 month after that. Well, atleast her BREASTS were over.

Change in ones character can be either good or bad, look at Undertaker. Do you want to see Austin change his character THAT bad or would you rather have the some old, same old come out and pass stunners to all in attendance. The last time Austin changed characters was for us to see him wearing a cowboy hat... we don't want THAT again, now do we... well, maybe.

I don't know the full details, so I could be wrong, but did Booker actually hurt anyone during said robberies? And misguided or not, he assumedly did it because he needed the money. What need did Austin have that he fulfilled by beating his wife?

As for the show, I thought the entire show was great, with the exception of the last 10 minutes or so. Maybe it was just because I literally forgot to watch wrestling for the last couple of weeks, but I enjoyed just about everything. Chief Morley looked awesome in the ring, I could see him gaining some major elevation by the end of the year if Austin & HHH don't suck the life out of the main event picture. Spike was great against Morley as well, I loved the Lou Thesz Bite.

HHH's promo legitimized his match with Booker at Wrestlemania. Definitely the best promo he's cut in many months. Jericho/Test was probably the worst match of the night because of all the interference but Jericho's beatdown and promo on HBK more than made up for the match.

I sure hope that Austin's charisma hasn't went as far south as his physical ability because tonight he appeared to be sorely lacking in both areas.

I was excited to see Austin back and I was happy that he got the monster pop when he came back. But he did look rusty as hell.

But the rest of the show was Eh. The Booker T/ Steiner match was dissapointing by the way that HHH put over Steiner and then he goes on to lose by a screwed up rollup. But I don't think that Steiner can work a match longer than 5 or 6 minutes on RAW.

In the police report at thesmokinggun.com, Booker hit someone and dragged them to the back. He also held his firearm to a woman and others whil commiting the crime.

He did his time, he got a chance to change and he did. Austin had a meltdown and hit his wife, it was wrong but he also gets his chance to change. He didn't kill anybody, he didn't constantly abuse her, he didn't send her to a hospital, he made a mistake and hit her. But we've been through this a million times in the past. I just don't care for the double standards.

Who freaking cares what happens outside of TV? I don't. I care about what is on my TV from 9 to 11:05 on Monday nights on TNN and from 8-10 on Thursday nights on UPN. Austin was arrested for assault. Booker was arrested for armed robbery. Eddy and Billy Gunn were arrested for DUI. I don't care! All I care about is good TV and that's what we got tonight. Austin can continue to be Austin, and that's damned fine with me. I think he looks good and I know everyone will be singing his praises again after his match at Mania with the Rock.

Agreed. Let's focus on RAW...IN THE RING.

That being said, RAW was AWESOME from what I saw. Austin rules all... HEEL ROCK rules all... And the Hurricane is also...ruling most, but not all.

Can't wait for next week's RAW.

What the hell did I just say?
WHAT'S HAPPENING???? AHHH!! I'm actually looking forward...to RAW!~!

The HHH promo was a nice start to the Booker-HHH program through WrestleMania. Of course, it was obviously completely forgotten that Booker did pin HHH in a tag match just a couple of weeks ago on Raw. That sort of dilutes HHH's non chalant attitude toward Booker and makes me wonder why Booker didn't throw it in HHH's face. Plus, Booker T and Scott Steiner were chumming it up as partners the last couple of weeks and then they throw them in a match tonight and JR and King talk about how Booker and Steiner have an intense rivalry and don't like each other. Come on, a little consistency and continuity would be nice.

The Rock and Hurricane interaction was great again but, not quite as good as last week. I'll forgive them though because last week's promo was a tough act to follow. I'd still like to see more of the Rock-Hurricane verbal sparring next week. It sort of reminds me of the smooth interaction that Rock and Mick Foley used to have. Or, maybe Stone Cold and Kurt Angle sitting in the back with Vince.

Golddust shows up and doesn't appear again.

A RVD & Kane vs. Tommy Dreamer & Al Snow match that came out of nowhere and advanced nothing.

No mention of Batista & Randy Orton from HHH or the announcers.

The big welcoming committee that Eric Bischoff bragged about last week ends up being the 3 minute jobbers, Chief Morley, and Lance Storm. Wow!

Obviously, Raw is still rough around the edges but, there is still some improvement and things to look forward to. Nice continuation to the big feud in the Women's division (although Molly should have been in Jacqueline's spot) and a solidification of the Jericho-HBK WrestleMania matchup.

I was cool with the end promo except for one thing. If they're OBVIOUSLY building towards Rocky and Austin, why would Bischoff offer Rock to make a choice between facing Austin or Triple H? Why even mention Triple H at all if he has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this storyline?

The answer?

HHH did mention it, and he sluffed it off as Booker getting lucky in a *tag* match

Just out of curiousity, why? At least Jackie is a face, Molly is not established as one, and I thought their using her as one the last couple weeks was pretty weak.

Because he's the World Champion. Rock entered the battle royal last week because he wanted a shot at the World Championship. HHH is only involved by proxy because of the belt that he's holding. It's not like he's seriously involved in the feud or anything. All that they're saying is that Rock has a choice to fight for pride, against Austin, or a title, against HHH, if he beats Booker next week.
