I'm in no way a fan, but I know plenty of you guys and gals here are so I thought I'd throw this out there for you.

Coming April 15th,
"Miyazaki's Spirited Away

From one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the history of animated cinema comes the most acclaimed film of 2002. Hayao Miyazaki's latest triumph, filled with astonishing animation and epic adventure, is a dazzling masterpiece for the ages. It's a "wonderfully welcoming work of art that's as funny and entertaining as it is brilliant, beautiful, and deep" (Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal). SPIRITED AWAY is a wondrous fantasy about a young girl, Chihiro, trapped in a strange new world of spirits. When her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, she must call upon the courage she never knew she had to free herself and return her family to the outside world. An unforgettable story brimming with creativity, SPIRITED AWAY will take you on a journey beyond your imagination. "To enter the world of Hayao Miyazaki is to experience a kind of lighthearted enchantment that is unique to the world of animation" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times). It's a fantastic tale the whole family will want to experience over and over again."

And the extras:

SPIRITED AWAY Introduction -- Academy AwardŽ-Winning Director And Miyazaki Admirer John Lasseter (Special Achievement Award, 1995) Introduces The Film.

Behind The Microphone -- Go Behind The Scenes Of The English-Language Version With The Voice Cast, Including Suzanne Pleshette and Jason Mardsen.

I'm there. Spirited Away didn't screen anywhere close to here, and it was very, very well recieved. I hate missing out on Miyazaki films.

Edit: I missed out on Metropolis, too...

If you didn't already know, they're also releasing 2-disc sets of Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky (Laputa) on the same date (April 15).

Spirited Away=awesome.

We ordered a multi-region copy of it from ebay, because it din't come anywhere near us, theatre-wise. It's movie only, but that's fine. It was pretty cheap, so now I'm definitely looking forward to the special edition release.

Also coming in April: special editions of Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso.

If you haven't seen it watch it. Just once. It's that Alice in Wonderland feeling, just awe and dread and hope rolled into one ball. Maybe the best anime movie ever.

I would second that. I'm not a fan of anime films, but that film was really good. I saw it with my wife and another friend. Neither of them are fans of anime films, but they both loved it as well. If nothing else, it's more than worthy as a rental and you should definitely watch it if you have the chance. I thought it was one of the better, more creative films of the year. I'm no critic, but I would have had it on a top film of the year list.

I don't know... I wasn't overly impressed with Spirited Away, and I hope that it's not Miyazaki's last film, 'cause I thought it was one of the weakest I've seen to date...

Of all Anime movies out there, my top two are:

2: The Wings of Honneamise
1: Grave of the Fireflies

Incidently, they're my top 2 favorite movies of all time thus far. ... I don't think I'd put Spirited Away even on my top 100. (Edit) And yes, that was Spirited Away and not Spirit. :-P

You didn't accidentally go see Spirit did you? I kid, Spirit wasn't bad, but SA still rules.

I really liked Spirited Away (it was in my top five for the year), but not as much as Mononoke.

Maybe because Spirited was "for" young teenage Japanese girls, while Mononoke was about more "grand" topics like nature vs. civiilization and stuff like that.

Saw it listed on Suncoast's coming soon board and preordered it without a moment's hesitation. As mentioned before, if you haven't seen it, give it a rent.
