If I'm hearing correctly, Britney now is singing covers of "Uptown Girl" (Billy Joel) and "I Love Rock And Roll" (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) as well as the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction". Though I can stand her "original" songs, her covers drive me crazy.

Are there other covers I should know about?

Bleh, you can stand her 'original' songs? Baby One More Time is probably more catchy than I'd like to admit, but Slave for you is just goddamned awful.

Opinions? I got 'em!

If anybody remembers where I stole that from, please feel free to comment, cause I don't remember myself

She does (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction on her album Oops! I Did It Again.

I don't mind her covers, but I'm a sucker for Britney.

All of Britney's songs are terrible. But she is soooooo cute that I (and evidently millions of others) can forgive her lack of taste in songwriters.

You know, I understand what Britney means by singing that, but on another level I'm like "huh? so what are you?"

That could mean so many things...well, only a few but they're the few that count.

Randomly turning the thread around, Travis do a great cover of "Baby, one more time". Its kinda like how Nirvana did a great cover of "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam" in a way that completely changes the concept of the song.

"the beat goes on" from "baby, one more time" is a Sonny Bono cover.

Britney Spears now holds the distinction of being one of only three acts in 26 years to lip synch on Saturday Night live.

The other two being Milli Vanilli and Jennifer Lopez.

What an elite club.

Must've been a money thing. She sang a duet in the UK on the Frank Skinner show, but they paid her 100 000 for the privilege. She was pretty good too by the looks of things (I've only saw a clip mind). Not 100 000 good, but pretty good. Or at least pretty.

Technically, she "sang" her first song about not being a girl, but the backup singers' microphones were turned up just as loud as hers, effectively drowning her out at many key parts of the song.

The second song was a "dance routine" performance, complete with costumes and Back Up Dancers. It was during this "performance" that she lip synched. I went to the bathroom.

She was also hosting said show, so I doubt it was a money thing.

Probably not in that case. Great exposure. HOWEVER - she normally commands a quarter million dollars a concert. I kinda laughed a few years ago when she was offered 17 million dollars from some guy to be the one to deflower her - considering she makes that after 61 performances, which I'm sure she's more than capable of racking up in 6 months.

I have nothing but love for the girl... ok maybe it's more of a lust, and it has nothing to do with her music.
