| #1 Posted on 27.2.03 1057.51 Reposted on: 27.2.10 1059.04 | You know what's so great about this year's WM? Any of us could put down on paper a probable card of 10 to 12 matches, and it could be safely said that none of those matches would happen just because there was "nothing better" for those guys to do. We probably could have projected the card weeks ago. I think that says a lot of good things about the writing. Issues and conflicts are being created between parties (whether they're cool or stupid is another story), and those issues and conflicts will be resolved at WM - the way it should be. You know what that means, right? It means we're probably gonna get some very sweet video packages from the some of the best video producers around.
So, here's my idea. If there's enough depth and backstory in, say, 6 of the WM matches, to create videos, then why not give those matches their own theme songs? Instead of handing out theme songs to every single PPV event (maybe keep theme songs for the Big 5), give the really important *matches* at WM their own song. This way, you create a brand new piece of merchandise - WrestleMania: The Soundtrack. You can create a CD that has the theme song for the whole show, then the theme songs for the individual matches. You can even throw soundbites on there. Make it an enhanced CD - pop it in your PC and you can play the videos too. You can sell it as a stand-alone CD, or maybe throw it in with the WM DVD as a separate disc that'll play the videos on your DVD player.
I'd buy it. | Promote this thread! | | Gugs

There is a very good reason (I think) that they let you hear the theme songs for free, instead of buying them. With the notable exception of My Way, they all suck. Well Kid Rock's censored "cocky" didn't make a good Royal Rumble...Bawitdaba is better by all accounts.
Oh yeah,Evanscence was good too. | dMp

| #5 Posted on 28.2.03 0056.06 Reposted on: 28.2.10 0059.01 | As for songs attached to feuds.. Whenever I hear My Way I see the Rock-Austin promo.
And at X8 they had Saliva do this song (dunno the title, chorus is 'I don't care about anything else but me....' I believe) they said it would tell the story of the Undisputed title and we saw the HHH-Jericho promo behind the band..so whenever I hear that song I turn to my friends and go 'wow..this tells the story of the undisputed title'
Now for your idea, I don't think it can be done, it would mean too many songs for such a short time (promos dont last that long) and the last thing i need is more promos/songs to put merchandise over.. | Smackfiend

That's actually "Tear Away" by Drowning Pool. IIRC Saliva did "Always" for the Jericho-Austin match at No Way Out | tomvejada

| #10 Posted on 28.2.03 1614.07 Reposted on: 28.2.10 1620.45 | I may just be old (23~!) and cynical, but I can't remember the last time they used a song as a PPV theme that *didn't* totally suck ass. I know they used "Highway To Hell" at Summerslam '98, and I always liked that Doors takeoff they used a few times ("The End"), but aside from that, it's always some boring sound-alike piece of nu-metal and a waste of everyone's time.
I can't even figure out why they bother to change the song from one month to the next - if no one told me "this is Drowning Pool doing 'My Daddy Doezzint Love Me'" and "this is Saliva doing 'I'm A Hardazz White Boi'", I wouldn't even know they were different songs.
EDIT: Me am write words today

"My Way"
"The End is Here"
Summerslam 2002 Theme
"Bring me To Life"
Also, "Lonely Road of Faith" used in the Desire videos, was another good song, as well as "My Sacrifice." | OMEGA

| #12 Posted on 28.2.03 2222.12 Reposted on: 28.2.10 2224.25 | The WWE has a knack for taking terrible songs and making me love them with their video packages. i.e.- I absolutley can not stand Limp Bizkit. However, I found myself taping SuperStars on the Sunday morning before WrestleMania 17, and rewinding, watching, and rewinding the Austin/Rock video package, because it kicked so much ass.
Steering away from music and back to WrestleMania merchandise... How come they didn't put out a WrestleMania magazine this year? They've done it the past 3 years and I was upset they skipped it this year.
I'm also upset that (it looks like) there will be no WrestleMania XIX jersey. I love those things. | The King of Keith

The thing I hate is if you're going to do packages that apply to feuds they should fit. Not everything has to be music for white people and white people alone. They keep getting these white-trash bands to do white trash music. And say I'm being "racist" but I've never met a black Saliva fan. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
