Questions about The Ryback's undefeated streak:

How many wins has he had? Is anyone keeping track of the numbers? Is Creative actually going to attempt to outdo the Goldberg undefeated streak and moreso, if they do, will they actually do it "legitimately" and not cook the numbers of the streak like Goldberg's streak?

Does pinning 2 guys count as winning 2 matches?

I think I read the other day (on 411) that he had a televised streak of 32. They haven't mentioned a streak on tv yet so I dunno if they'd count house show matches as well (assuming he has those)

I hope creative just sticks with the 'he's undefeated' bit and not bother with the numbers because it's pointless IMO to put a number on it. There's no WWE record for longest undefeated streak and neither Ryback or the WWE are going to get anything special out of a 'milestone' 100th victory or something like that. At least I don't see any ratings bump that can be gotten on either cable TV or PPV if he reaches that mark. Just say he's unstoppable until they actually decide to stop him and the build should be enough as it is to get people interested in him. Maybe give him the Intercontinental title from Miz (who is totally wasting it right now) and use it as a package deal.

I can tell you that WWE's pushing Ryback into title contention far faster than WCW pushed Goldberg. Goldberg's U.S. Title win over Raven was his 75th overall, and his World Title win was his 107th.

(Those are official totals. Which could include aforementioned cooking of the streak.)

Of course, Goldberg's undefeated streak, though there was confusion about how many wins he'd actually gotten, was at least legitimate and started from the beginning of his pro wrestling career. Ryback, as we know, used to be Skip Sheffield, and he was 2-5 on NXT Season 1 alone.

If we're going to nitpick Goldberg's streak, he did lose at least one match at a WCW house show before officially debuting on TV, which I remember back in the day a lot of people using as ammunition to try to shut down the whole 'streak' storyline while it was going.

Ryback is different because his losses as Skip came on national television where everyone could see them, but there was also close to two years of inactivity and a name change in between them.

After his first few matches they did say "undefeated since his return" or something like that. Maybe it was undefeated since coming back, whatever.
I even remember Regal pointing out he taught him some move back on NXT, so I dunno if they try to pretend he didn't wrestle before, they just downplay it a lot.
And maybe that's why they aren't yelling out anything about streaks.

Does it really matter if the streak is from his very first match or not? If an MMA fighter or boxer lost his first two matches and then went undefeated for 25 fights, is the streak less impressive because he'd already lost two fights in the past? I realize that streak angles in wrestling are usually done as "This man is physically unstoppable!", but shouldn't a learning curve be relevant? I don't think Tatanka's 20 month (on TV) winning streak was supposed to be as a result of pure physical superiority. I don't see why they can't do a mid-career winning streak angle just like they do losing streak angles.

That being said, the only way this streak can truly end with greatness is if they reinstate the 24/7 Hardcore Title/Rule and Ryback loses his first televised match after Daniel Bryan throws him through the window of a Panera Bread and pins him on a salad.

It doesn't matter unless they start saying "OMG THIS GUY HAS NEVER LOST EVER!!!" like they almost always do with pro-wrestling "undefeated" characters. It's even worse now with the WWE because they'll have a guy on tv winning and losing matches, then just give him new music and say he's undefeated since his new music, and eventually forget the "since his new music" part and just claim what we remembered never happened.

Out of the inordinate amount of times he's faced Jinder Mahal, I wonder how many of those were squashes.

So Jinder Mahal is his Jerry Flynn? I might find him as a more likable character then if he grows a mullet and starts trying to do karate kicks at Ryback.
