The Rock is raising a few...of the *peoples'* eyebrows, heheheh..eh. Anyway it's about his latest movie role as king of Hawaii. I doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but what do I know. Click Here

I think its time for the Rock to choose between wrestling and movies. This movie role means The Rock will have to take more time off from wrestling. How many returns of The Rock are we going to have? I think in the past year there has been 4 Rock returns.

Oh Jesus, that makes zero sense. Would we care if a Brit played George Washington, even though we were bitter enemies at the time? How ridiculous.

I agree. Rocky is going to be out at least another six months after Summer Slam filming "Helldorado" and this Kamehameha movie. He's been out for so long, no wonder there was no ratings bump for his return... or maybe it was that interminable promo with Busta Rhymes.

I doubt there's enough pent-up demand for *one* movie about the King of Hawaii, much less two competing pictures. Beyond that, how many popular native Hawaiian actors are there? The only one I can think of is (Joseph) Jason (Namakaeha) Momoa from "Baywatch Hawaii", who's more famous as a model than as an actor. Who's going to bankroll a film without a certain draw?

As far as Rock choosing between WWE and Hollywood, I believe it would be unwise for anyone from WWE to make him choose. If a handsome guy Rocky's age had to choose between the huge paychecks and massive stardom that Hollywood had to offer, and the fraction of that fame and wealth that pro wrestling could offer, the odds are that he'd take Hollywood. Given the injuries that are becoming commonplace in pro wrestling, the choice becomes even easier.

What WWE needs to do is create new stars and stop falling back on the "Return of Rocky" as their solution for all falterings of the product.

After "Helldorado", and that Hawaiian movie, The Rock is supposed to be in another movie similar to the Harrison Ford movie "Witness.", or from the creators of that movie I think.

Geez, if THIS is the kind of movie Rocky is going to pursue, then he's going to watch his career go the way of "Mr. Nanny".

Next Summer, Hulk Hogan and the Rock in...

I hope the Rock's next movie bombs and he comes back to wrestling full time. Out of all the main eventers in the WWF right now, he's the one that is most likely to help elevate new talent, and that's why Vince needs him. Ditto for Angle.

I actually saw Urban Commando, and yes, it sucked, but I stuck through it anyway, since Hogan was in it.

By the way, wasn't Hogan also in some TV show about a motorboat or something?

That's Suburban Commando, not Urban Commando.

That TV show about the motorboat was "Thunder In Paradise." Steve Borden (Sting) had a guest role in that show for a few episodes.

Since I'm too dense to figure out how to break up quotes properly on this board, I had to quote all of what you said in one big block, but I want to reply to individual points:

1) Many, many, MANY films, some of them of fairly big budgets, are made with unknowns or relative unknowns as either the lead or key supporting characters. Clearly someone is bankrolling those pictures. So those griping about the casting of Rocky have a more valid gripe than you might think.

2) Agreed about someone trying to force Rocky to decide between making movies and wrestling. If he were ever given that ultimatum, he'd be gone from wrestling in a heartbeat, and who could blame him?

3) Also agreed about the WWE reliance on Rocky returns to boost the product. He's great to have around when he IS around, but with him returning and leaving every few months, his returns lose their luster. Use him prominently when he's available, sure, but don't hype the returns up so damn much. While he's gone, build up some more people and make his returns seem less like desperate ratings-grabs and more like just an addition to an already decent product. *shrug* I guess if it were really that simple, though, WWE wouldn't be in the trouble it's in now.
