On Friday, August 10, 7:00 p.m., we will sponsor a St. Paul Saints baseball game at Midway Stadium, 1771 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul. Arrive early at 5:00 p.m. for a tailgate party in the parking lot.

Our banners will hang in the stadium and we will rename the team the “Mr. Paul Aints.” The team will wear Mr. Paul Aints jerseys during the game, which will be auctioned off as a fundraiser for us. You may also order in advance a custom Mr. Paul Aints jersey with your name and a number on the back for $69.

The letter “S” will be covered up on the word “Saints” throughout the ballpark and we’ll have an information/greeting table at the main entrance. American Atheists president Dave Silverman will throw out the first ceremonial pitch of the game. After the game there will be a fireworks display.

I'd love to hear a report if CRZ were to go to this.

I don't anticipate that the day will come where I willingly play a part in any raising of funds for atheists.

Having absolutely no personal problem with atheists or atheist groups-- Just sponsor a freaking baseball night and show how atheists can have fun as a group too, don't be a tool about it. Yeah yeah, it wouldn't get the same amount of press, but so freaking what?

I mean it's the difference between that friend who drinks soda while everyone else is drinking beer, and the other friend who makes a huge deal out of how they're drinking soda and brings up the subject every five freaking minutes. Or friends who don't eat meat vs. those that lord their not eating meat over everyone at the freaking BBQ. I know which ones I ask if we really have to invite...

At least the jerseys will make it easier to spot the annoyingly smug people I hate dealing with.

They did "just sponsor a freaking baseball night." Of course they're going to advertise, how else are people going to know about it. You seem to have failed to notice that all the attention is coming from the MEDIA (I heard about it in an article in USA Today) and religious nuts. Which, incidentally, they have NO CONTROL OVER. Who's being the tool? Yeah, clearly you have absolutely "no personal problem with atheists or atheist groups." You're just oozing with tolerance and acceptance. "At least the jerseys will make it easier to spot the annoyingly smug people I hate dealing with." Nice, and don't worry, not SMUG at all. So is everyone who wears a cross necklace an annoyingly smug Christian? What a very rude and close-minded post.

Hey, thanks for registering for this place you've probably never been to in your life, or even knew existed before today, just to insult the long-time members if this board and my family. Go with God.

You're welcome. And yes, my intent was to insult your family. (Um, how exactly would I have known that? Not that it would matter. A rude close-minded post is a rude close-minded post regardless of the author.) Apparently this is not an open forum. It's just for "friends and family who think exactly like us." My bad. Interesting that it's perfectly ok for you guys to be rude. Definitely feeling Jesus' love here. And I'm sure if he were a real person and alive today he would run around calling people "tools." Way to shine the light. Why would you say, "Go with God?" Just to be smug? Would you like people getting in your face and saying, "Allah is great!" And yet it's those darn in-your-face atheists that are tools? Do you really not see all the hypocrisy here?

This promotion is almost as stupid as the idea of an aethiest organization.

Anybody who is in your face about their beliefs (or lack thereof) is an idiot.

I'd think it be less insulting to just rename the team "Capital City Pauls" for that type of promotion.

As an NFL follower, calling your team "Aints" isn't really constructive religiously or secularly.

Geez, whatta thread. Go with something tasteless about how the tailgate is co-sponsored by an abortion clinic (YUM!) or actually say something of worth...

I fail to see, as an American, that any religion is entirely in your face. Granted, you could sight X-mas and all the hulaballoo the country goes into every December, but Santa and Polar Bears sipping Coca-Cola, Black Friday shopping, Frosty the Snowman, the muthafuckin' Heat Miser, dead evergreens, and gaudy to ostentatious wrapping paper weren't in the version of the bible I read.

One time while walking into the mall, a lady approached me and said Jesus loves you. I could've told her I doubted her statement, being that I'm agnostic, that there's no way a guy who died 2000 years ago is doing anything considering he'd probably be well decayed and dirt by now, that I was far from an example that he wanted to set in his life, or one of a million things to shush her in effort to make myself feel smarter by detracting her beliefs. I simply said thank you, even if I don't share her beliefs, because she was just being nice in a way she knows how.

That being said, when you organize atheism, you create the Church of No God. Then again, while it may be extraordinarilly tacky to do what they're doing in St. Paul (born and bred, bitches!), it isn't like they're picketing the Easter Bunny at a local mall with signs that say God Hates Fags.

Just because you can register an account somewhere, it doesn't mean you need to shoot your mouth off.

We've run this community for a decade. You've been here a day. I pay the server bill, you show up and feign indignation (or you just froth at anyone you notice on the internet.)

Either way, you're making a great impression.

The woman you are yelling at is my wife. Another interesting fact, I probably would buy one of those shirts since I think they're pretty amusing.

You, however, are pretty much a boorish lout and I'm going to side with my wife -- anything that would identify you from a distance so I'd be less likely to interact with you *specifically* in real life, is something I'd look favorably on.

Carry on.
